Los Montesinos is a young town. Until 1990, the date in which Almoradí was emancipated, it was a district. This does not mean that it does not have a rich and ancient history. Not in vain, the Via Augusta that circulated about 2,000 years ago between Rome and Cádiz passes through its municipal terms.

“Door of the Vega Baja,” that is how Catral is defined. It is the first town found in the interior if we go deep into the region. With a traditionally agricultural economy, Catral has evolved until transforming into a touristic township. Citrus fruits, artichokes, potatoes, wheat… orchards and fields, make up the landscape that surrounds the Daya Nueva population. A rich environment that was not so in the past, when the first inhabitants of the town had to drain swamps and marginal waters.
