San Isidro was born in the middle of the last century as a town of colonization in the municipal terms of Albatera and was recognized as an independent township in 1993. Initially inhabited by some 300 families of colonists, San Isidro has in irrigational agriculture one of the main economic motors.

Perched on the southern slope of the Segaria Mountain, the small town of Benimeli pleasantly surprises above all else for its wide range of pastel colors on the façades of its houses.
