Join us for a trip to the Middle Ages as we wander the streets of Fribourg.
It's a town that has a certain Gothic vibe with quaint houses, hills upon hills, historic bridges and mountains beyond sight.
We visited the St. Nicholas Cathedral which is one of Europe's great Gothic churches and it's over 700 years old!

SWITZERLAND IN THE SUMMER! Fribourg, Vaud & Summer Outdoor Activities! | Switzerland Vlog
This is what 4 days in Switzerland exploring the Fribourg and Vaud regions of the Country looks like! I went to Switzerland with the Tourism Board to show you what Summer Outdoor Activities these regions have to offer, and I can confirm that they have a lot!
From walking, to Golf, to sailing on Lake Geneva, Wine Tours and Tasting, taking the Train into the Mountains, there is a lot to do in Switzerland in the Summer.
We visited Gruyere, Monteux, Lavaux, and Lausanne. We also went to a Swiss Chocolate Factory, saw Cheese being made, took a Sunset Cruise along Lake Geneva and played some golf.
Not only that but the Country is absolutely stunning!

Historical Points
Excavations carried out from the end of the 19th century confirm that this site has been occupied since the Bronze Age. The Castle of Chillon is the result of several centuries of building, adaptations, renovations and restorations.
The Castle sits on a rocky island which is both a natural protection and a strategic location which controlled the passage between northern and southern Europe. The history of the castle was influenced by three major periods:
The Savoy period (12th century to 1536)
The oldest written document mentioning the castle dates from 1150; it says that the House of Savoy already controlled the route along the shores of Lake Geneva.
The Bernese period (1536-1798)
The Swiss, more precisely the Bernese, conquered the Pays de Vaud and occupied Chillon in 1536. The castle retained it's role as a fortress, arsenal and prison for over 260 years.
The Vaudois period (1798 to the present)
The Bernese left Chillon in 1798 at the time of the Vaudois Revolution. The castle became the property of the Canton of Vaud when it was founded in 1803. The restoration of the historical monument began at the end of the 19th Century and continues to this day.
You can easily walk to the castle in about 20 Minutes or take a free bus ride from right in front of the Golf Hotel René Capt in Montreux

Weggis is a municipality in the district of Lucerne in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.
It forms part of the northern shore of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee).
The town has a famously mild climate and is well known for the numerous southern plants as chestnut trees, palms, grapes and orchids.
The small, idyllic holiday resort of Weggis lies at an altitude of 435 metres on the shore of Lake Lucerne and at the foot of the renowned Rigi. Weggis offers tranquillity and relaxation in front of a beautiful lake and mountain panorama. The region on the southern flank of the Rigi is often termed the ‘Riviera’ of central Switzerland.

Built on a hill opposite to the city of Fribourg it offers a magnificient view of the city and its surroundings. The short clip also shows you the the old town of Fribourg with the Roman catholic Cathedral of Saint Nicolas built between 1283-1490. The city of Fribourg is also the capital of the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The city itself was founded by Berthold the IV, Duke of Zähringen, in 1153. Through the lower city flows the river Saane, also known as La Sarine. The population of Fribourg (city also known by its German name Freiburg im Üechtland) speaks French or/and German.
