Hawes is a small market town and civil parish in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England, that was granted its market charter in 1699. Historically in the North Riding of Yorkshire, Hawes is located at the head of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales, the River Ure runs to the north of the town and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The parish of Hawes also includes the neighbouring hamlet of Gayle. It is 31.2 miles (50.2 km) west of the county town of Northallerton. The Wensleydale Creamery is a major producer of Wensleydale cheese.
The village once had a railway station that was the terminus of the Hawes branch of the Midland Railway and an end-on terminus of the line from Northallerton from its opening in 1878 to its closure in April 1954. British Railways kept the line to Garsdale Junction open for passengers until 1959. The Wensleydale Railway Association has plans to rebuild the railway from Northallerton (from its current western terminus at Redmire) to Garsdale including re-opening the station in the village.
The parish of Hawes covers the large areas of moorland on Dodd Fell, Snays Fell, Stags Fell and Widdale Fell and includes the River Ure tributaries of Widdale Beck and Gayle Beck. The latter flows through the town of Hawes. There are many abandoned lead mines, quarries and limekilns in the parish indicating its industrial past. A short distance form the town on Gayle Beck are the Aysgill Force waterfalls. The highest point in the parish is Great Knoutberry Hill at 2,205 feet (672 m). The parish extends as far north as Hellgill Bridge along a narrow strip either side of the Ure.
The civil parish of Hawes also includes the neighbouring hamlets of Gayle, Appersett and Burtersett. The A684 road from Sedbergh to Osmotherley passes through the town and the B6255 begins at the western edge of the town and links it to Ingleton.
The main attraction is the Wensleydale Creamery Centre which was established by former workers of the original Hawes Dairy in 1992. It produces the eponymous cheese to traditional recipes following those first done by French monks in the 12th century. The centre has won many prestigious cheese awards, including Supreme Champion for its Wensleydale Blue in 2012. The cheeses produced by the Creamery are undergoing the final stages of an application for Protected Food Name Status.
Other local tourist attractions include the Dales Countryside Museum, based in the old Hawes railway station of the Wensleydale Railway, nearby Hardraw Force waterfall, and the Buttertubs Pass which links Wensleydale to Swaledale. Hawes has a regular market, as well as many shops, pubs and tearooms. Hawes is a centre for walking (hiking) the countryside and the Pennine Way passes through here. There is a youth hostel located on Lancaster Terrace at the western end of the town.

Going on a Carnival Cruise? Things You Never Hear About!
1. Woman Sentenced for Bomb Threat
After a night of reveling over a few cocktails, while on a cruise in the Caribbean 31-year-old Sarah Kirby lost her balance, managed to flop over the regulation 42-inch-high railings of her balcony and plunged about 100 feet into the dark waters below.
Don't worry, she actually lived to tell the tale, and was rescued after spending two hours adrift at sea.
Rather than offering kudos to Carnival for saving her life, Kirby turned around and sued them for the incident, claiming that they not only took too long finding her, but they were also somehow responsible for pushing Long Island ice-teas on her by offering $5 casino incentives per drink purchase.
She lost.
One spokesman said, “personal responsibility has to enter into the picture.
2. Passenger Evicted As Bio-Terrorism Suspect
Bar tabs are a big profit center for the cruise industry, and lots of passengers in holiday mode tend to overindulge without much monitoring from the crew. Sadly 18-year-old high school senior Seth Younes imbibed so much that he was found unresponsive in his cabin by his 14-year-old brother, while on an eight-day spring break Caribbean cruise with his family
The autopsy confirmed his death was due to accidental acute alcohol poisoning. Perhaps this tragedy can serve as a cautionary tale for parents not to let their guards down on vacations like this.
3. Death by Alcohol Poisoning
Waking up to a fire alarm and smoke in the hallways was just the first part of this nightmare cruise back in February 2013 (a bad month for Carnival).After diesel generator No. 6 ignited into flames that fateful morning, the ship's power was compromised to the point that over 4000 passengers and crew sat adrift 150 miles off the Yucatan coast for four days before they could be towed to Mobile, Alabama. There was no air conditioning. Lights, food and water were limited. Perhaps most significantly, toilets overflowed and it became known as the poop cruise.
4. Fire Left Carnival Triumph Dead in the Water
On the Carnival Victory a few years back, a Massachusetts couple woke in the middle of the night and found 40, 50, 60 bugs just crawling all over the top half of the bed. Carnival acknowledged the infestation and said they suspected a previous guest brought them onboard.
5. Bed Bugs on the Carnival Victory
A 17-year-old passenger on the Carnival Sensation claimed she was subjected to an aggressive strip search and other humiliations when she was suspected of being in possession of marijuana in April 2011. She says she was forced to take off her clothes, remove a tampon, urinate, and undergo a genital cavity examination by security staff. She said she wasn't informed of her rights and couldn't have her mother present during the interrogation.
During the trial, it came to light that the girl had embellished her story (she admitted that she voluntarily took off her underwear and tampon just to get things over with)
Carnival won the case.
6. Unwarranted Cavity Search
Linda Gayle Wilson made repeated phone calls to authorities claiming there was a female terrorist carrying a bomb on board the Carnival Dream in October 2012. A ship-wide search was conducted but, thankfully, no explosives were found. She was later sentenced to 12 months in a federal prison for the hoax.
Sadly, bomb scares are a frequent occurrence on cruise ships.
7. Lawsuit for Falling Overboard
In May 2012, a Nashville neurosurgeon named Dr. Jack Kruse was to give a speech on the Carnival Magic about his diet plan. Then found himself a suspect of bio-terrorism. I had no idea what I was being accused of. They went out of their way not to tell me, said Kruse. Apparently somebody had sent a tweet using Kruse's name that mentioned he had a vial of something for a bio hack on the ship. When this suspicious tweet was brought to Carnival's attention, they notified the FBI, who proceeded to question the good doctor then escorted him off the ship. Upon further investigation, the tweet was found to be on a parody account under Kruse's name, and he was cleared.
Carnival stands by its protocol and take all threats to security seriously.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Downtown HD (2015)
Bridgetown (metropolitan pop 110,000 (2014)) is the capital and largest city of the nation of Barbados. Formerly, the Town of Saint Michael, the Greater Bridgetown area is located within the parish of Saint Michael. Bridgetown is sometimes locally referred to as The City, but the most common reference is simply Town.
The Bridgetown port, found along Carlisle Bay (at 13.106°N 59.632°W) lies on the southwestern coast of the island. Parts of the Greater Bridgetown area (as roughly defined by the Ring Road Bypass or more commonly known as the ABC Highway),[3] sit close to the borders of the neighbouring parishes Christ Church and St. James. The Grantley Adams International Airport for Barbados, is located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) southeast of Bridgetown city centre, and has daily flights to major cities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and the Caribbean. While there is no longer local municipal government, it is governed as a political constituency within the national Parliament. During the short lived 1950s-1960s Federation of the British West Indian Territories, Bridgetown was one of three capital cities[4] within the region being considered to be the Federal capital of region.
The present day location of the city was established by English settlers in 1628 following a prior settlement under the authority of Sir William Courten at St. James Town. Bridgetown is a major West Indies tourist destination, and the city acts as an important financial, informatics, convention centre, and cruise ship port of call in the Caribbean region. On 25 June 2011, Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison were added as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.
