Kodagu is an administrative district in Karnataka, India. Before 1956 it was an administratively separate Coorg State,[3] at which point it was merged into an enlarged Mysore State. It occupies an area of 4,102 square kilometres (1,584 sq mi) in the Western Ghats of southwestern Karnataka. In 2001 its population was 548,561, 13.74% of which resided in the district's urban centres, making it the least populous of the 30 districts in Karnataka.
The district is bordered by Dakshina Kannada district to the northwest, Kasargod district of Kerala to the west, Hassan district to the north, Mysore district to the east, Kannur district of Kerala to the southwest, and the Wayanad district of Kerala to the south. Agriculture is the most important factor that upholds the economy of Kodagu and the main crops cultivated in this region are rice and coffee. Coorg is rich in natural resources which included timber and spices. Madikeri (English: Mercara) is the headquarters of Kodagu.
Kodagu is known for its coffee and its people. The dominant group are the indigenous (Kodavas) and other ethnic groups (Arabashe Gowdas and Kodava subgroups). The chief languages presently spoken in Kodagu are Kodava, Are Bhashe, Kannada, Tulu, Konkani and Urdu. Kodagu is home to the native speakers of the Kodava language.

1.Chelavara Falls
Chelavara Falls, which is popularly known as Embepare, is a beautiful fall located about 26 km from Madikeri. In local language, Embepare means tortoise rock. This waterfall is just 2 km away form Choma Kund Hill, which can also be visited by tourists.
2.Mandalpatti Hills
Mandalpatti hills are located at a distance of about 35 km from Madikeri town in Coorg (Kodagu) District and It is one of Coorg's best tourist spots. Mandalpatti is located near Madikeri on the way to abbi falls.
3.Madikeri Fort
Madikeri Fort was first founded by Mudduraja in the second half of the 17th century. He also built a palace inside the fort. It was eventually rebuilt in granite by Tipu Sultan who named the site as Jaffarabad.
4.Abbey Falls
Abbey Falls is in Kodagu, in the Western Ghats in Karnataka. It is located 8 km from the Madikeri, 122 km from Mysore, 144 km from Mangalore and 268 km from Bangalore. The river is part of the early reaches of the river Kaveri.
5.Sri Omkareshwara Temple
Prominent Hindu temple to the god Shiva with 4 minarets, a dome & a fish-filled pond.
6.Raja Seat Mantapa
Sunset watching is popular at this park with valley views, a train & musical fountain shows.
7.Mercara Downs Golf Club
Golf course with small bunkers, water hazards & a practice green, plus dining facilities.
8.View Point
Scenic overlook providing panoramic views of mountains, valley, morning fog & sunsets.
9.Gaddige Tombs
Gaddige Tombs, also known as Tombs of Virarajendra and Lingarajendra, are located in the north of Mahadevpet in Madikeri. Built in 1820, the royal tombs provide a spectacular view of the town.
10.Bhagamandala
Bhagamandala is a pilgrimage place in Kodagu district of South Indian state of Karnataka. And It is 33 km from the district headquarters Madikeri and is connected by paved roads from Madikeri, Virajpet and nearby places in Karnataka and Kerala.

Places to Visit in Coorg in 2 Days | Coorg Trip
Hi, we are total 8 members working as software engineers for refreshment we have planned to go coorg for 2 days from mysore. We have booked tempo traveller for Rs 4300 from mysore to coorg we started at 7pm in the middle of the journey we had dinner at road side daba and finally reached to coorg madikeri town heaven homestay around 11pm.
Day 1:- Started from madikeri we booked tempo traveller for 3000 rupees to watch local site seeing first completed breakfast directly went to kulasanagar golden buddist temple stayed around 1 hour from there we went to nisardhagama later gone to dubare elephant camp and finally visited raja seat view then came to homestay
Day 2:- Early morning booked two jeeps for 1500 each started to mandalpatti stayed around 3 hours. After that came back to homestay and booked a cab went to abhey falls, omkareswara temple after that done some shopping in coorg buyed spices, coffee packets and homemade choclates at choco coorg. Finally safely back to our rooms without any troubles. Some of the places are covered in this video just watch it get some idea.
