Banyoles is a city of 17,309 inhabitants located in the province of Girona in northeastern Catalonia, Spain. The town is the capital of the Catalan comarca Pla de l'Estany. Although an established industrial centre many of the inhabitants commute to nearby Girona (12 km to the south).
Banyoles is most famous for the Lake of Banyoles, a natural lake located in a tectonic depression. It was the venue for the rowing events in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics as well as the negro of Banyoles, a controversial piece of taxidermy.
Each year a triathlon Premium European Cup (or even an IFC Canoe Marathon World Championship in 2010) is held in Banyoles, the hometown of the Spanish 2011 Champion Carolina Routier.

The Portlligat Museum-House is the house in Port Lligat, Catalonia, Spain where Salvador Dalí often lived and worked from 1930 to 1982, until upon the death of his wife Gala Dalí, he took up residence at Púbol Castle.
The Dali Museum House has a labyrinthine structure which from one point of departure, the Bear Lobby, spreads out and winds around in a succession of zones linked by narrow corridors, slight changes of level, and blind passageways.
All the rooms of Dali Museum House have windows of different shapes and proportions framing the same landscape that is a constant point of reference in Dalí’s work: the Portlligat bay.

The Costa Brava is a coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, Spain, in the comarques of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and La Selva, in the province of Girona. Costa is the Catalan and Spanish word for 'coast', and Brava means 'rugged' or 'wild'. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, 60km northeast of Barcelona, to the French border.
In the 1950s the Costa Brava was identified by the government and local entrepreneurs as being suitable for substantial development as a holiday destination, mainly for package holiday tourists from Northern Europe and especially the United Kingdom and France. The combination of a very good summer climate, nature and excellent beaches was exploited by the construction of large numbers of hotels and apartments in such seaside resorts as Blanes, Tossa de Mar, and Lloret de Mar. Tourism rapidly took over from fishing as the principal business of the area.
Cadaqués, an artist's paradise
While part of the Costa Brava coastline lent itself to tourist developments on a very large scale other parts have retained a more traditional look and have become hidden gems for visitors who want a little more than sun, sand and sangria. Small towns like Cadaqués (close to the French border and close to the foothills of the Pyrenees) have attracted artists such as Salvador Dalí (Dalí's Museum at Figueres is one of the most important and visited museums in Catalonia, you can also visit his House-Museum in Port-Lligat, near Cadaqués and the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol) and Pablo Picasso and are now fashionable resorts. The coast between Roses and Tossa de Mar has many delightful small coastal towns such as Pals, Begur, Tamariu, S'Agaró, Empuriabrava, Llafranc, L'Estartit, Aigua Blava, Fornells, Calella de Palafrugell, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guixols. The Salvador Dalí Museum is an art museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States, dedicated to the work of Salvador Dalí. It houses the largest collection of Dalí's works outside Europe. It is located on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront by 5th Avenue Southeast, Bay Shore Drive, and Dan Wheldon Way. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed the building on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 PlacesShortly before marrying in 1942, A. Reynolds Morse & Eleanor R. Morse attended a Dalí retrospective at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Intrigued by the artist's subject matter, and impressed by his draftsmanship, they bought their first painting a year later. The purchase began a 40-year relationship as patrons and friends of Dalí that resulted in a comprehensive collection of original Dalí work.
Until 1971, the Morses displayed their collection in their Cleveland, Ohio, home. When they loaned over 200 pieces to a Dalí retrospective in 1965, they realized that 25 years of collecting produced a mini-retrospective that needed a permanent home.

Touring Besalu doesn’t take more than a few hours, as it is pretty small. Logically, you could start your visit at the end of the famous medieval bridge that overlooks the area. Its foundations go back to the Roman times, as does the rest of the town. Besalu was actually a kingdom before Barcelona became the capital of Catalonia, and it was quite wealthy due to its geographical position.
Once you have crossed the bridge, there are various paths that lead to the river from which you can enjoy the bridge in its entire splendor. Take the time, along the way, to observe the many little quirks of the medieval streets and Plaça de la Libertat – that’s the best part.

There are two angular sections and in the centre a tower with a small arch.The bridge has eight pointed arches. Access to the town is protected by two towers joined to the wall.These fortifications are used to defend access to the town and to collect tolls.

Peratallada is a town in the municipality of Forallac, in the county of Baix Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located 22 km east of Girona.
Its name is derived from pedra tallada, meaning 'carved stone'. Declared a historic-artistic monument, most of the buildings are built from stone carved from the fosse or moat which still encircles parts of this small fortified medieval town. The privately owned Castle of Peratallada is the dominant structure in the center of the town, with a 13th-century Romanesque church dedicated to Sant Esteve (Saint Stephen) outside the town walls. The castle has been documented as early as 1065 AD and it was restored as a luxury hotel in the 1960s. During restoration, traces of settlement were found that date back to the Bronze Age.
Today, Peratallada is known for its beautiful old stone buildings, rutted stone streets and passageways. Its proximity to the beaches of the Costa Brava and its numerous restaurants, small boutique hotels and artists' galleries make it a popular destination. The 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was partly filmed on location here.
