Chengdu Tekst
When entering Chengdu you’ll probably notice the high buildings, foggy weather and lots of traffic. With over 10 million people in the region, the capitol of Sichuan is definitely a big city!
The most famous attraction being the Panda Breeding Center. And yes, you’ll definitely notice they are proud of their furry friends.
Heming teahouse in People’s park is very popular. A great place to put your feet up after a stroll through the park!
FACE CHANGING
They say ancient people used to paint their faces to scare off the wild animals. The Sichuan Opera adopted this skill, and formed it into the art we now know as face changing.
Actors reveal mask after mask in a way that bewilders the audience.
And there is more! Shadow plays, singing and fun little sketches. Even as an English speaking tourist, you’ll be entertained through the entire evening.
You can even feel the vibes of being an actor yourself for a few moments!
FOOD
Being a UNESCO renowned centre of gastronomy, enjoying the local cuisines is a must do. Mixtures of sweet, sour, salty and spices guarantee an explosion in your mouth. At least the Sichuan pepper will ;)
Don’t miss out on the hot pot in the streets, where you create your sauce exactly the way you like it, with a variety of fish, meat and vegetables.
Or go for a cooking course in a local home. A great way to catch a glimpse of daily life.
NEW CENTURY GLOBAL CENTER
With some of the largest cities in the world, you know China is not afraid to think big.
So, meet the world’s largest building, the New Century Global Center.
There are hotels in here, offices, even a university. But what you will find probably most interesting is the huge shopping mall that’s hidden behind the high walls. With options good options for entertainment, and shopping your ass of at any budget.
There are lot of funky foods to enjoy.
And if you want to cool down, just enter the tropical swimming area at the end of the building. Just because, why not?
TEA AND SPICES MARKETS
A totally different side of Chengdu is to be found at the local markets. We’re off to the tea market just above the northern railway station.
Of course you’ll find tea in here. Lots of it! For daily use, and for real fancy occasions.
And as a bonus, there is a spice market right across the street. With more taste explosions than you could possibly eat in a lifetime.
And best of all: we had so much fun with the people here. Even when you have to talk with hands and feet, a good laugh is understood by anyone.
And no worries when it starts to rain! Just join in on a local game of MahJong.
All in all this is a great place for some edible souvenir shopping just before going home.
And did I already tell you you can find all directions in the descriptionbox?!
GET LOST
Oh well, it’s a fun way to meet new people!
TIBETAN QUARTER
You could say this city does some face changing itself! In the Tibetan Quarter you’ll get yet a totally different feel from this city. Native style houses, small streets, lots of green and of course, lots of shopping.
You’ll definitely find the best souvenirs in here. But there is also the green surroundings and temples that are very attractive.
Selfie Time!

Chinese food gets more interesting the deeper you go. I set off for Chinese street food and cuisine in deep southern Sichuan province by bicycle. I rode my bike down deep into Southern China's lush and mountainous liangshan region, in search of delicious Chinese street food and Chinese food. The Chinese food really was different in this region. The liangshan region is home to Chinese Yi ethnic minority, who have their own cuisine. It was very rural and in some areas also very poor, so I had difficulty finding the yi cuisine at first. Later in the second half of the video, I found a Yi restaurant and had a Chinese food feast! The little village I visited was called Butuo, about 120 km from Xichang.

Amazing Places to Visit in China - Guilin
Visitors making their first trip to China usually stick to the larger cities. More experienced visitors will strike out in other directions, where traveling may be a bit more frustrating because of the language barrier, but most definitely doable for independent travelers. For a country of its massive size and varied geography, however, it's surprising how relatively few people outside China appreciate the extent of the country's other attractions, many of them natural wonders to rival any in the world.
Guilin is a scenic town and one of the best-known tourist destinations in China. The riverside town in southern China is most famous for its karst hills and traditional fishing-village lifestyle. Guilin is China's most picturesque region and has long been one of the world's most famous travel destinations. It's breathtaking scenery has attracted many famous poets and artists for thousands of years. Guilin, Wade-Giles romanization Kuei-lin, also spelled Kweilin, formerly Lingui, city, northeastern Zhuang Autonomous Region of Guangxi, southern China. The natural route centre of the Gui River basin, Guilin lies along the easiest of all the routes leading from central China to Guangdong province.
