Aviemore is a town and tourist resort, situated within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland. It is in the Badenoch and Strathspey committee area, within the Highland council area. The town is popular for skiing and other winter sports, and for hill-walking in the Cairngorm Mountains. There are excellent views of the Cairngorms from various places within the town, especially from the railway station. The Aviemore stone circle is located within a residential neighbourhood of the town.

1. Cairngorm Reindeer Centre Glenmore
The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland closely associated with the mountain of the Cairn Gorm. The Cairngorms became part of Scotland's second national park on 1 September 2003. Although the Cairngorms give their name to, and are at the heart of, the Cairngorms National Park, they only form one part of the national park, alongside other hill ranges such as the Angus Glens and the Monadhliath, and lower areas like Strathspey. The Cairngorms consists of high plateaux at about 1000–1200 m above sea level, above which domed summits rise to around 1300 m. Many of the summits have tors, free-standing rock outcrops that stand on top of the boulder-strewn landscape. The edges of the plateaux are in places steep cliffs of granite and they are excellent for skiing...

Craigellachie National Nature Reserve lies to the west of the village of Aviemore in Strathspey, in the central Highlands of Scotland. The reserve covers 257 hectares, dominated by birch woodland, yet encompassing a variety of other habitats, such as rocky crags, lochans and open heath. It was declared a National Nature Reserve in 1961 and is managed by Scottish Natural Heritage through a lease from Reidhaven Estate.

Abernethy Forest is a remnant of the Caledonian Forest in Strathspey, in the Highland council area of Scotland. It lies within the Cairngorms National Park, close to the villages of Nethy Bridge, Boat of Garten, and Aviemore. The forest is an RSPB reserve, close to Loch Garten Osprey Centre, which is also owned by the RSPB. It is popular with walkers, as there are various trails throughout the reserve. The forest forms part of the wider Abernethy National Nature Reserve.There is approximately 4,000 hectares of forest within the reserve, and just under half of this is native caledonian pine forest. Aigas Field Centre is a nature centre based at the home of naturalist and author Sir John Lister-Kaye, Aigas House. The centre was opened in 1977 by ecologist Sir Frank Fraser Darling, and provides nature-based holidays for adults and environmental education services for school children. It is located at Aigas, next to the River Beauly, 8 kilometres west of Beauly and 20 kilometres west of Inverness, in the Highlands of Scotland. 57.4389°N, 4.565°W. House of Aigas, once a Victorian sporting estate, was owned by the Gordon-Oswalds, who added the Victorian extensions to what was a 18th century tacksmans house. The house was then owned by Inverness County Council as an old people's home, before Lister-Kaye persuaded them to sell it to him. Aigas began a beaver demonstration project in 2006....

Aviemore is a town in the Cairngorms National Park, in the Scottish Highlands. It’s known for its close proximity to the secluded lochs, ancient forest, mountain trails and ski runs of the surrounding parkland. Near town, the funicular at the CairnGorm Mountain resort has panoramic views of the Cairngorms mountain range. Southwest, Highland Wildlife Park’s inhabitants include Scottish wildcats and capercaillie birds.

Aviemore lies on the B9152 (the old A9 road since the main road from Inverness to Perth was rebuilt further west in 1980). Aviemore railway station is on the Highland Main Line and Aviemore is also the southern terminus of the Strathspey Railway, a heritage railway.

The Cairngorm Mountain Railway, which opened in 2001, is the highest railway in the United Kingdom. The two-kilometre long funicular ascends the northern slopes of Cairn Gorm, the United Kingdom's sixth-highest mountain, serving the Cairngorm Mountain ski resort. The route and ski area are located within the Cairngorms National Park, the largest National Nature Reserve in Britain, located near Aviemore in the Highland council area of Scotland.

Grantown-on-Spey is a town in the Highland Council Area, historically within the county of Moray. Grantown on Spey was founded in 1765 as a planned settlement on a low plateau at Freuchie beside the river Spey at the northern edge of the Cairngorm mountains, about 20 miles south east of Inverness (35 miles by road). Originally called simply Grantown after Sir James Grant, on Spey was added by the burgh council in 1898.

There are no rail services to Grantown. The closest main line stations are Aviemore and Carrbridge from which trains travel North/South between Inverness and the central belt. There is also a station at Forres from which trains run between Inverness and Aberdeen. The Strathspey Railway is a heritage railway which currently runs between Aviemore and Broomhill (nr Nethy Bridge) via Boat of Garten. There is a proposal to extend this railway to Grantown.

The town is twinned with Notre-Dame-de-Monts in the Vendée, Pays-de-la-Loire, France, and Grant Town, West Virginia in the United States. Since 2011, Grantown-on-Spey has been home to Shinty club Strathspey Camanachd. There is a small museum located in Burnfield Avenue near one of the town's three free car-parks.
