Keld is a village in the English county of North Yorkshire. It is in Swaledale, in the district of Richmondshire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The name derives from the Viking word Kelda meaning a spring and the village was once called Appletre Kelde - the spring near the apple trees.Keld is the crossing point of the Coast to Coast Walk and the Pennine Way long-distance footpaths at the head of Swaledale. At the height of the lead-mining industry in Swaledale in the late 19th century the village had a population of around 6,000. 1. National Centre for Birds of Prey Helmsley
The International Centre for Birds of Prey, formerly the National Birds of Prey Centre, in the United Kingdom houses a large collection of birds of prey with over 60 species of owls, eagles and hawks. It works towards the conservation of birds of prey through education, captive breeding, research and rehabilitation. The centre is located at Boulsdon near Newent in Gloucestershire. The Director is Jemima Parry-Jones. In March 2013 a new branch was opened at Duncombe Park in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

Rukins Campsite - Keld North Yorkshire

This is one of my favourite campsites. It has beautiful riverside pitches, for tents only. Campfires allowed in the provided fire pits.
Its a very relaxing site.

Open from Easter to end of September, we visited in the second weekend in September and had the whole site to ourselves.

Yorkshire Dales Country Walk - Swaledale - Muker-Keld-Kisdon Force round

Our video is a guided walk in the beautiful valley of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales. We start from Muker and walk along side the River Swale passing the ruined stone mine buildings and waterfall at Swinner Gill. We stop to admire East Gill Force just before we walk on to Keld. From Keld we walk back to Muker on the Pennine Way taking a detour to admire Kisdon Force. This is an easy to moderate 6.75 mile walk.

Hiking England: Pennine Way - Part 10, Hardraw to Keld

The coldest day I've spent on the Pennine Way yet! I check out Hardraw Force, claimed to be the highest waterfall in England before heading up over Great Shunner Fell in winter. I get to check out hiking in snowy conditions with minimal visibility.
I head on through Thwaite before coming to a stop at the Keld Lodge.

In this upload, I've given a flavour of some of the stunningly beautiful places we have seen, and I hope you enjoy them.

Yorkshire: Wayfarers Walks & Talks No 7

Yorkshire is described as England's Green and Pleasant Land, with good reason. It's a fascinating and beautiful county. Walk with The Wayfarers, and you will experience Yorkshire with our walk leader Alan Pinkney, who grew up here. In fact, the walk passes a few hundred yards from his front door!

We walk in a land that time has passed by, with intricate networks of drystone walls creating a patchwork of enclosures across the valleys, and stone field barns in old-fashioned hay meadows.

Sights to take in during the walk include Bolton Abbey, Middleham Castle and the famous Aysgarth Falls, painted by the English landscape paint J.M.W. Turner.

Hiking England: Pennine Way - Part 11, Keld to Bowes

A great day out hiking on the Pennine Way. Leaving Keld Lodge I head over to Tan Hill, the highest inn in Britain, before taking a very wet route to Bowes.

A swim in Currack Force near Keld - 14 Sept 2018

I had read about this spot on a walking blog and also in a book on wild places. I was delivering walker's bags up to Keld so after finishing, I had a walk down to this waterfall for a lovely swim.
