Bucerias is an excellent place to stay to enjoy the town and the nearby places in the bay, to the north and south.
Church of Our Lady of Peace of Bucerías
A few steps from the town square, you will find the Church of Our Lady of Peace in Bucerías. It has a wide central access and two lateral ones, a tower with three bodies where the bells mark the passing of time in this town.
People who feel nostalgic for the Puerto Vallarta of the last century are going to walk to Bucerias to remember it. Walk through the cobbled streets, greet local citizens who chat with their neighbors at the doors of the many picturesque houses.
Like Puerto Vallarta, before becoming a tourist attraction, Bucerías subsisted on the abundant fruits of the Pacific Ocean and agricultural crops, including corn, peanuts and fruits. In the market these and other products of the field are obtained, in addition fresh oysters and local crafts and of huicholes.
The gastronomy of Nayarit is very varied and tasty, especially the one that is related to the sea. Pesado zarandeado is a delight where a large fish, such as red snapper or snapper, opens up in a butterfly and is roasted on the coals, an already recognized dish of Mexican gastronomy.
You can also recommend the ceviches that are made with white meats of ocean fish, they are undoubtedly a delight that will be offered in the many restaurants of Bucerias.
In Bucerías you can enjoy walks by the sea, it is a pleasure to walk on the soft sands and especially early in the morning, when the sun rises, the beach is wide, long and offers good space and a spectacular view.
Among the sports that are offered in Bucerías is surfing, wakeboarding, boogieboarding and if you look at the strong and constant wind of the place you will easily realize that it is perfect for windsurfing and the most recent development of sailing sports, kite surfing
On Thursday afternoons in Lázaro Cárdenas street, the traditional Art Walk of the place begins, lasting until late at night. You walk down the street entering the art galleries and craft shops of the place. There are also small commercial hooks that are offered in the place, a little drink, a shot of tequila or mezcal, all to encourage them to enjoy and buy something of what is offered,
There are some important dates in the area and specifically in Bucerias where there are parties or celebrations that show the best and the most animated of the town, on January 24 is celebrated the day of the Virgin of La Paz, date on which is taken to the sea in a procession, there await a multitude of boats decorated beautifully, with music and fireworks to complete the experience. October 14 is the anniversary of the town, where it is celebrated to give everything, as is the custom in Mexico and on November 22, the day of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of the musicians, date in which the town receives musicians and bands from the surrounding area that come to compete with the best music that they offer to their patron protector.

Enjoy Bucerias, Nayarit, Mexico, just north of Puerto Vallarta
To learn more about Bucerias, Nayarit, visit:
Take a stroll along the cobblestone streets in Bucerias, many say that it's like talking a walk to the past of Puerto Vallarta, back in time, the locals will greet you while they talk to their next-door neighbors, small stores, some international food dining establishments, government and real estate offices, art galleries, a local market with numerous Huichol works of art as well as small street stands that offer fresh oysters in their shells, maybe you might even get tempted to stay in town more than a day.
The most popular local fiestas are the religious festivities for the Virgen de la Paz, January 24 each year, includes peregrinations by sea on colorfully decorated boats with different spiritual symbolism, fireworks, dance, local Mexican delicacies and lots more.
In the 1940's Bucerias was a few palapa huts, and the citizens cultivated corn, sorgo, sesame, peanuts and fruit, other activities included fishing. Access to the little village was not easy mainly throughout the rainy season (the summer months), however after 1955 a much better road was built there helping locals and providing easier access for visitors.
