Mexico always features among our top 10 destinations in the Index, and usually among our top five. It’s home to more North American expats than any other country in the world. And no wonder. Mexico offers a diverse geography, with everything from white-sand beaches to high-mountain colonial cities. Its climate ranges from moist, tropical heat to dry desert and everything in between. It is rich in casual beach towns, vibrant Spanish-colonial cities, and small country villages. Low prices, friendly people, and a laidback lifestyle are also found here… And today, with the Mexican peso at historic lows against the U.S. dollar, Mexico is more affordable than it’s been in years.

Our FAVORITE thing to do at LAKE CHAPALA, MEXICO
Nothing is better than the natural healing properties of this thermal spa at Lake Chapala.
SPA: hotelspacosala.com /
If you're looking for a little zen in your life, this is the place for it. Let nature's healing qualities make you feel better. As expats living in Mexico, Spa Cosala is #1 on our list of things to do near Ajijic, Mexico.
This Mexican spa uses the natural thermal waters at Lake Chapala and funnels those qualities into an amazing spa experience! If you get the full VIP spa treatment, it's under $30 USD at today's exchange rate - for Americans in Mexico, that's a pretty darn good price!
That service includes 5 various thermal baths such as a chocolate bath, mud bath, red wine, and apple cider vinegar baths. They do change the baths up from day to day, so you might be in for a suprise!
After finishing up with the thermal spa, there are natural saunas with fresh eucalyptus leaves that really do a lot to enhance the experience! After you finish up with that, you can then go onto a reflexology walk or relax in a hammock.
If you're looking for a cheap spa in Mexico, this is the place! Located in San Juan Cosala, Jalisco on the shores of Lake Chapala, just a short drive from Guadalajara!
Every time we leave this place, it's like we are floating on a cloud! Absolutely pure bliss!

The Pueblo Mágico Tapalpa amazed us with breathtaking waterfalls, a mysterious valley, & charming culture.
►Get $40 off Airbnb when you sign up with our link! We’ll get $20.
In this Jalisco Mexico vlog 2018, stayed in the Pueblo Magico, Tapalpa for a little less than a week. This provincial mountain town is truly something special. While in this Magic Town, we enjoyed the mouth-watering food of the mountains of Jalisco while soaking in the relaxing essence of nature surrounding the town.
So many people recommended we visit Tapalpa, Jalisco and now we know why! We just wish we’d come sooner! During our trip, we also made our way to Valle de Piedrotas, or Valley of Large Stones, what is considered the main attraction of Tapalpa. Later, we journey through some sketchy dirt roads to find what we later learned was the largest waterfall either of us have ever seen, and perhaps the most stunning thing we’ve ever seen in nature. This Mexican waterfall, called Salto de Nogal is an absolute MUST SEE if you are in Guadalajara or Lake Chapala Jalisco, Mexico. Heck, even if you aren’t in Jalisco or Mexico, we think this experience was practically unparalleled and a definite must.
What do you think of our adventures in this travel Mexico vlog? We'd love to hear from you in the comments! Where should our Tangerine Travels take us next?
These are our recommendations on what to see / do / eat / stay in Tapalpa, Mexico.

4. The shops (poke around the shops of Tapalpa for some traditional wooden products, rompope, ponche, coffee, woven clothing, and other unique goodies to Jalisco)
5. Give some love to the many gentle and kind stray dogs.
WHERE TO EAT IN TAPALPA
1. La Villa Tapalpa (the best food & drinks we tasted in Tapalpa!)

3. Paulinos (the cheapest breakfast in Tapalpa)

Carol Kaufman arrived and living in Mexico almost 1.5 years ago, ready for a new adventure and a Retirement lifestyle Semi-retired, Carol came to the popular Mexican expat village on a one-way ticket, sight unseen; she didn't even know a soul. Remembering what her mother used to say, What's the worse that can happen?, she figured that, if she didn't like it, she could return to Northern California where she came from. That hasn't happened.
Carol feels that Ajijic is a good fit and she's thriving as a single woman who's made good friends, slowed down her pace, continues to sample new Mexican cuisine, and keeps busy writing human interest stories for a local English-language newspaper and a Travel blog It appears that she's there to stay.
Carol likes the convenience That Guadalajara International airportIs only 40 minutes away It is very convenient Getting the travel deals When she travels.
She is renting now But is open to the possibility Of Ajijic Real estate In the future.
