Illinois is as diverse a state as its cities and people. Located in the heartland of America, the Land of Lincoln may have cultivated a reputation as one of the worst run states, but it still remains a great choice for anyone looking to put down roots.
Unemployment rate is one of the major causes of the high migration rates out of the state in recent years, but Illinois continues to prove its economic resilience. Illinois is also home to dozens of cities with revitalized downtowns, excellent entertainment venues and endless outdoor recreation opportunities.
Universities in the state are on the leading edge of research and several of them, including the University of Illinois (Champaign Urbana) and Northwestern University,
are among the only 108 institutions nationally classified as “Very High Research Activity” on the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
In the heart of the Midwest, Illinois has some crazy weather. The winters are harsh, the summers are hot, and several different seasons can show their face in a single day.
Every Illinoisan knows the importance of learning how to drive in snow and knows how to survive if their city gets shut down for a couple days.
Here are the 10 best places (cities and towns) to live in Illinois for 2018:
1. Northbrook.
2. Winnetka.
3. Buffalo Grove.
4. Naperville.
5. Galena.
6. Highland Park.
7. Wheaton.
8. Marion.

New Jersey is the Diner Capital of the U.S. - NYC Dining Spotlight, Episode 8
In the state of New Jersey, diners are more than just a place to grab a breakfast sandwich or a late night cup of coffee. Often the center of the community, diners built in the 1920's are still beloved by their guests despite modern restaurants filling up Main Street. Zagat editor Billy Lyons visited three diners in the Garden State to find out why this style of dining and cuisine continues to thrive - not to mention investigate a fun food debate.

Grand Marais, Minnesota. North Shore Lake Superior
Grand Marais is a city in Cook County, Minnesota, United States.
Grand Marais is French for Great Marsh, referring to a marsh, which in early fur-trading times was 20 acres (8.1 ha) or less in area, nearly at the level of Lake Superior, and situated at the head of the little bay and harbor that led to the settlement of the village there. Another small bay on the east, less protected from storms, is separated from the harbor by a slight projecting point and a short beach.
Grand Marais is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota, and is an entry point for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, being at the beginning of the Gunflint Trail. The Superior Hiking Trail passes near Grand Marais and Judge C. R. Magney State Park is nearby with the peculiar Devil's Kettle waterfalls.
Road access to Grand Marais is by Minnesota Highway 61, which heads northeast following the shore of Lake Superior and is known as the North Shore Scenic Drive. The Gunflint Trail (Cook County Road 12) begins in Grand Marais and heads northwest away from the lake and into the Boundary Waters region.
Grand Marais is located 110 miles northeast of Duluth; and 40 miles southwest of the U.S.–Canadian border.

Afton is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,886 at the 2010 census.[6] It is located on a small bay where Valley Creek empties into the St. Croix River several miles north of the confluence with the Mississippi River.
Afton is well known for Afton Alps, the largest ski and snowboard area in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is also home to Afton State Park, a popular park on the St. Croix River. Due to these two destinations and the quaint small-town appearance in a major metropolitan area, Afton receives a fair amount of local tourism in the form of day trips. Jessica Jessie Diggins (born August 26, 1991) is an American cross country skier.[1] She and teammate Kikkan Randall won the United States' first ever cross-country skiing gold medal at the Winter Olympics in women's team sprint at Pyeongchang in 2018.
Diggins won a gold medal with Kikkan Randall in the team sprint in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme.[1] Two years later she won the silver medal in the 10 kilometer free style race in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun.[1]
Diggins was named to the U.S. team for the 2014 Winter Olympics. In her first event, the 15 kilometer skiathlon, she placed 8th (out of 61 competitors) with a time of 40:05.5.[2]
In the 2015/2016 World Cup, she placed 8th in the overall and sprint rankings and 9th in the distance ranking.[3]
Diggins finished third overall in the 2017–18 Tour de Ski, becoming the first American to finish on the podium in the overall classification, and beating her previous best of fifth overall in the previous edition. Her teammate Sadie Bjornsen finished ninth overall, also making it the first time that two Americans finished in the overall top ten.[4]
During the 2018 Winter Olympics she and Randall became the first American cross-country skiers to capture a gold medal by winning the women's team sprint at the Alpensia Cross-Country Centre in PyeongChang, South Korea.[5]

How The World’s First Burger Was Made At Louis’ Lunch | Legendary Eats
We visited Louis’ Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut and interviewed the fourth generation owner Jeff Lassen about the history of the restaurant, the story behind the birth of the hamburger, and saw how they make it. We tried the burger out and asked customers how it compares to new, modern burgers.
Instead of buns, Louis' Lunch uses toasted sandwich bread. The burger patties are cooked to a medium-rare, no exceptions.
Every morning, Louis' Lunch's patties are freshly ground with a special blend of beef. As for customization, Louis' Lunch has a strict ordering policy: Absolutely no condiments.
Lassen says they still cook in the same original stoves that Louis' Lunch cooked in from day one.
The whole restaurant is covered in etchings because customers are encouraged to add on to the history at Louis' Lunch.
