Crosby is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,386 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Crosby is adjacent to its twin city of Ironton. It is one of the cities in the Cuyuna iron range.

The National World War I Museum and Memorial of the United States is located in Kansas City, Missouri. Opened to the public as the Liberty Memorial museum in 1926, it was designated in 2004 by the United States Congress as America's official museum dedicated to World War I. The Museum and Memorial are managed by a non-profit organization in cooperation with the Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners. The museum reopened to the public in December 2006 with an expanded, award-winning facility to exhibit an artifact collection that began in 1920. Lake Itasca is a small glacial lake approximately 1.8 square miles in area. It is notable for being the headwaters of the Mississippi River, and is located in southeastern Clearwater County, in the Headwaters area of north central Minnesota. The lake is within Itasca State Park and has an average depth of 20 to 35 feet , and is 1,475 ft above sea level. The Ojibwe name for Lake Itasca is Omashkoozo-zaaga'igan ; this was changed by Henry Schoolcraft to Itasca, coined from a combination of the Latin words veritas and caput , though it is sometimes misinterpreted as true head. It is one of several examples of pseudo-Indian place names created by Schoolcraft.

Jay Cooke State Park is a state park of Minnesota, United States, protecting the lower reaches of the St. Louis River. The park is located about 10 miles southwest of Duluth and is one of the ten most visited state parks in Minnesota. The western half of the park contains part of a rocky, 13-mile gorge. This was a major barrier to Native Americans and early Europeans traveling by canoe, which they bypassed with the challenging Grand Portage of the St. Louis River. The river was a vital link connecting the Mississippi waterways to the west with the Great Lakes to the east. Today Minnesota State Highway 210 runs through Jay Cooke State Park. Backpack Hammocking in the Minnesota Northwoods

Got out for two nights (too short!!) and went to Northern Minnesota to some favorite spots in Crosby Manitou State Park (terrific trails there) and then on to Horseshoe Ridge on the Superior Hiking Trail. Then looped back to the trailhead and home. Slept wonderfully in my hammock and had some good woods walking.

The Mississippi River Trail is Minnesota's first national bicycle route from the headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico . The great river road also shares parts of it's route. The kiosk in Kiwanis Park in Brainerd represents the host cities of Brainerd, Crosby, and Aitkin.
