Lutsen is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lutsen Township, Cook County, Minnesota, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 190.Lutsen is located within the Superior National Forest, on the North Shore of Lake Superior. It is 18 miles southwest of the city of Grand Marais; and 65 miles northeast of the city of Two Harbors. Cascade River State Park and the Superior Hiking Trail are both nearby. Minnesota Highway 61 serves as a main route in the community.

Highpointing: Eagle Mountain, the highest point in Minnesota – Rooftops of America

We visit and hike up Eagle Mountain, the rooftop of Minnesota. Located in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Cook County, the highest point in Minnesota has an elevation of 2301 feet. The highpoint is ancient created during an event known as the Mid-Continental Rift over a billion years ago, the scars of which can still be seen throughout the region, most noticeably in the formation of Lake Superior.
Eagle Mountain is one of several geographic claims Cook County has. In addition to the highest point, you will also find the lowest point of the state only sixteen miles away on the shores of Lake Superior, and, this being the Land of 10,000 Lakes, you can also find the highest lake in the state as well. Grand Portage State Park Waterfalls, Minnesota USA side

Grand Portage State park. Highest waterfalls in Minnesota. Estimated at 130-150 feet although has never been measured. Sorry for the water drops on my lens. I was a ways away and still could feel the mist.
This falls is on the Pigeon river that meanders through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) along Minnesota, US and Ontario, Canada border and drains into Lake Superior.
