My friend Marco and me went down to Durban to explore the things to do in Durban and some more sights in Kwazulu-Natal. As usual I tried to mix sightseeing in South Africa with some cool activities, such as the big rush, a multi day trek in the Drakensberg mountains or a Segway tour in Durban.
For doing all this we rented a car and drive through the region for about 10 days with activities booked a few weeks ahead.
You can use this guide to prepare and plan your own trip to this region, therefore I included all Spots and companies we used along the way.
All Things to do in Durban & Kwazulu-Natal as shown in this episode:

We love South Africa
so we decided that we want to share with you
some of the favourite adventures that we’ve done on the Garden Route
The first thing we have to start off with for sure
for me is diving with Great White Sharks
that was amazing down in Gansbaai
getting into the cage getting into the water
only ten minutes off the shore
something you have to do
It’s a great way to get up close and personal
and learn about Great White Shark conservation
When you’re in South Africa
you definitely have to go on safari
We went to the Kariega Game Reserve
which is a private game reserve
which is fantastic because you can really
get up and close to those animals
There are all types of safaris you can go on as well
we went on a horse safari and we went on a night safari
and that was up near St. Lucia in the wetlands
Now if you’re looking for some high flying adventure
I highly recommend taking a Microlight flight over Durban
what a great way to see that beautiful South African coastline
and get a good idea of exactly the size of Durban
South Africa I believe is Africa’s adventure capital
and when you’re there you can do all kinds of things from
bungee jumping to gorge swings
but we went on a canopy tour
a little more relaxed
and you can go zip lining
and do a few fun things in the jungle
that’s a really great idea
And if you’re looking for something really different while you’re in South Africa
why not try some sand boarding
you can do this just outside of Cape Town
where there’s these massive dunes
now let me tell you
it’s a little labour intensive
but the rewards are well worth it
One of the craziest adventures that we did
was kayaking with crocodiles
I mean what were we thinking?
there were hippos in the water
there were crocodiles in the water
and here we were on little kayaks
kayaking through the water
Another great thing to do in South Africa is
to go to the Cango Ostrich Farm
it’s right near the Cango Caves
pretty wild you’ve got to go there too
and go through the adventure caving
which is skinny and scary
only she could do it not me
but when you go to the ostrich farm
you learn about how ostriches are raised
you may even be able to ride one if you under 60kg
and you can also feed the ostriches and that’s a lot of fun
So those are our favourite adventures in South Africa
do you have any favourites?
Share them with us in the comments below!
Welcome to St. Lucia
A wildlife documentary parody of St. Lucia, South Africa.
After our two day visit in St. Lucia, I realized that most of my footage was of the wildlife in this beautiful piece of paradise. Since I am a nature lover and also a big fan of the series Planet Earth, I decided to make my own nature documentary of our trip. It was quite a big project and took me longer than I would like to admit, but it is finally finished and I feel happy I can finally upload it!
All music credit goes to Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea, Jasha Klebe, and all involved musicians for creating the beautiful Planet Earth 2 soundtrack.
However all the cinematography, video editing and voice acting was done by me.
I made this video entirely for non-profit and fun only.
I hope you enjoy!

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa - Unravel Travel TV
KwaZulu-Nata in South African is called the garden province and is the home of the Zulu nation. Two natural areas: the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Located in the southeast of the country, the province has a long shoreline on the Indian Ocean. It borders three other provinces and the countries of Mozambique, Swaziland, and Lesotho. Its capital is Pietermaritzburg, and its largest city is Durban. At around 92,100 sq km in area, Kwazulu Natal is roughly the size of Portugal. The province has three different geographic areas. The lowland region along the Indian Ocean coast is extremely narrow in the south, widening in the northern part of the province. The central region is the Natal Midlands, an undulating hilly plateau rising toward the west. Third are the two mountainous areas, the Drakensberg Mountains in the west and the Lebombo Mountains in the north.

The Kingdom of Swaziland is a landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. Unlike the crowded safari parks of South Africa, Swaziland boasts an impressive variety of animals without the mass tourism to spoil the experience.
Here are four of Swaziland’s top safari parks!
Hlane Royal National Park is the largest national park in the country and has the largest conservation of game in the kingdom. They have the 4 of the big 5 missing the buffalo. My highlights were the Rhino and Lions.
Hlane covers an area of about 85 square miles. In the dryer months the animals are easy to spot gathered around the watering holes. It was so amazing to see so many rhinos on my game drives. There were also giraffes, elephants, and of course my favorite – lions. I had to wake up extra early to spot this guy, but it was totally worth it. There are two camps to choose from in Hlane.
Next up is Mbuluzi, a private game reserve with an impressive number of grazing animals. It covers an area of 3,000 hectares and borders the Lubombo Mountains, Mlawula Nature Reserve and Hlane Royal Park.
We are going on a game drive with our own vehicle, but you can also reserve a game drive at the reception with one of the guides.
Since there are no predatory animals here visitors enjoy the privilege of driving, walking or cycling around the reserve freely, without the supervision of a guide. Here, you won’t find the Big 5 but you will spot several giraffes! The park is also home to impala, zebra, kudu and nyala.
Mkaya Game Reserve was established in the mid 1980's and at the moment we are heading on a game drive to see black rhino, white rhino and elephants. Mkaya is one of the best parks in Swaziland to see Rhino up close.
The white rhino is endangered in Africa. If you are looking to see rhino in Swaziland this is the park to visit. There are two lodges in Mkhaya to choose from, the luxurious Stone Camp and the more rustic Lituba Lodge.
And last but not least, this is Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. This was the first wildlife sanctuary to be established in the country in the year 1961. Some of the animals we can see here are wildebeest, zebra, hippo, antelope and crocodiles.
You’ll notice that the landscape here is different because the park is situated in Swaziland;s Ezulwini Valley, between Mbabane and Manzini. The park is divided into northern and southern sections.
The wide open spaces allow for great visibility and epic photo opportunities. There are four lodges here, three of which are budget friendly.
There are the top 4 safari parks in Swaziland! Which was your favorite? Leave me a question or comment below!
