This is a video of the American Cemetery and Memorial in Normandy. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France is located on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 and the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. The cemetery site, at the north end of its half mile access road, covers 172.5 acres and contains the graves of 9,387 of US military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations. On the Walls of the Missing, in a semicircular garden on the east side of the memorial, are inscribed 1,557 names.

The US and Germans place their dead in a few large sites. The British place their and Commonwealth dead in smaller sites. I'll leave the viewer to decide which is the nest approach - they are all both beautiful and sad places of rest for those who died for us. I've posted vids of Cemetery's from all three countries. GERMANY: EXPLORING the historic WW2 BRIDGE at REMAGEN
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the historic Ludendorff Bridge (sometimes referred to as the Bridge at Remagen) which was in early March 1945 one of two remaining bridges across the River Rhine in Germany when it was captured during the Battle of Remagen by United States Army forces during the closing weeks of World War II. Built in World War I to help deliver reinforcements and supplies to the German troops on the Western Front, it connected Remagen on the west bank and the village of Erpel on the eastern side between two hills flanking the river. At the end of Operation Lumberjack (March 1–7, 1945), the troops of the American 1st Army approached Remagen and were surprised to find that the bridge was still standing. Its capture enabled the U.S. Army to establish a bridgehead on the eastern side of the Rhine. After the U.S. forces captured the bridge, German forces tried to destroy it multiple times until it collapsed on March 17, 1945, ten days after it was captured, killing 28 U.S. Army Engineers. While it stood, the bridge enabled the U.S. Army to deploy 25,000 troops, six Army divisions, with many tanks, artillery pieces and trucks, across the Rhine. It was never rebuilt. Road Tripping France - Part 3: Experiencing Normandy
For the final leg of our trip, we strike out on a day trip to Normandy. After visiting Juno Beach (Canada's D-Day landing site) and Omaha Beach (America's D-Day landing site), we continued on to take in the powerful sights of the Normandy American Cemetery, where 9,387 American soldiers are buried and honoured for their sacrifice. Finally, we explored the incredible history of Point Du Hoc, the site where US Army Rangers scaled impossibly steep seaside cliffs to dismantle a key Germany artillery position that had the potential to thwart the Allied beach assault.
I can honestly say this was the most moving day of my life so far.

Koblenz was established as a Roman military post by Drusus around 8 B.C. The city celebrated its 2000th anniversary in 1992. In this video we are going to visit the city's huge cemetery and we are going to concentrate on a small part that contains tombs of German soldiers that died during the first world war.
