It is situated on the coast of the Gulf of La Spezia, 8 kilometres southeast of La Spezia. It is known as the place where the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned. The town is connected by ferry to the Cinque Terre and Portovenere. One of the main sights of Lerici is its castle which since its first founding in 1152 was used to help control the entrance of the Gulf of La Spezia. Today the castle contains a museum of palaeontology.

    Il Castello of Bardine di San Terenzo is located in the Bardine's Valley, in the city of Fivizzano, between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Apuan Alps, not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Castello, an ancient building dating back to the 12th century, has been long used as the residence of family Nobili. Next to the building, an oratory and a chapel dedicated to Bernard of Clairvaux was built, in honour of the patron saint of the village, whose anniversary is celebrated on August 20. Thanks to an intelligent restructuring, the ancient architecture is preserved, which includes the drying room, the hay loft, and the cowshed.
