China - The Ladies!.mov
This is a video of the Yao Chinese minority taking down their hair which they have only cut once in their lives (at 16 - in a coming of age sort of way). They keep that hair (and if you look closely you can see a second bundle of hair - this is hair that falls out) wrapped up inside the hair they have been growing since. Every week they wash their hair in the dirty rice water that has been sitting for a week (which allegedly does not smell), and makes their hair extra soft and shiny. Truly, it was an amazing experience to get to see them apart of my graduation trip. We paid each girl 10 RMB (the equivalent at the time of less than 2 US dollars - video taken late March 2012) to allow us to video tape them. Enjoy :)

There are also six entries on the world intangible heritage list: Nha Nhac Vietnamese Royal Court Music, the Space of Gong Culture in Central Highland, Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs, Ca Tru singing, Xoan singing of Phu Tho Province, the Giong Festival of Phu Dong and Soc Temples (Hanoi).
Last, but not least, there are two inclusions on the World Documentary Heritage list: the woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty and the stone steles in the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.
