Munich, Germany: From Karlsplatz to Marienplatz
The walk shown in this video starts at the Alter Botanisher Garten (Old Botanic Garden) and the Justizpalast (Justice Palace), continuing to one of the main squares in Munich, Karlplatz. Then it follows the pedestrian shopping street leading to the Marienplatz with the neogothic Rathaus (Town Hall).
Several churches can be found along this walk: St Michael (Rennaissance) and Frauenkirche (gothic), a landmark of Munich with the twin brick towers.
The video also shows the baroque palaces along the Kardinal Haulfaber Strasse.
Public Transport in Munich - your munich guide
I recommend you to use the public transport in Munich. There are two good reasons for this: On the one hand, Munich is anything but car-friendly - if you are not in traffic, you are probably on one of the most unsuccessful search for a parking space. On the other hand, public transport is perfectly developed. So my tip: leave your car and use the public ones.
But how does it work? Even locals are occasionally desperate when they have to fight their way through the tariff jungle.
In Munich you can either take a bus, tram, subway, suburban train or combine them. I'll show you how to do that in this video:

Munich (pron.: /ˈmjuːnɪk/; German: München, pronounced [ˈmʏnçən] ( listen),[2] Bavarian: Minga) is the capital and the largest city of the German state of Bavaria. It is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany, behind Berlin and Hamburg. About 1.42 million people live within the city limits. This video covers a little bit of architecture and a little bit of street photography.
It seemed appropriate that while the Olympic Summer Games are on, I give you some of the images I have from from a walk I did in the Olympic Park in Munich. This was the venue of the Summer Olympics in '72.
Unfortunately these games, 44 years ago, were totally overshadowed by the murder and kidnapping of the Israeli athletes, such that the architecture and landscaped area went somewhat unnoticed. Understandable given the circumstances, but sad for the architect and all those others that worked so hard to make the venue. The building where two Israelis were killed and the others were taken hostage is up a bank and behind trees in the picture runner.
Sadly this is also not far from the shootings that recently took place (22nd July 2016) outside a shopping mall in Munich. The Olympiazentrum shopping mall is located about 1km from the station shown in two of the pictures.
