Travel Germany - Exploring the Bavarian Town of Traunstein
Take a tour of German Town of Traunstein in Traunstein, Germany - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Southeastern Germany is home to the Bavarian town of Traunstein, on the banks of the Traun River.
Traunstein became part of Bavaria in 1275, and was officially listed as a town by the beginning of the 14th century.
Over the centuries, Traunstein has been the victim of intense town-wide fires and bombings during war time.
However, the town has persevered and rebuilt itself to its previous glory each time.
A subcamp of the infamous Dachau concentration camp was located in the town during World War II.
The town is a stronghold of staunch Catholic faith, having been the location where Pope Benedict the 16th received his seminary education.
MEDIA MARKT SAVED ME & I Arrived in Munich for OKTOBERFEST--Traunstein, Germany // 072
After a thirty minute walk from Traunstein to the local Media Markt (like Best Buy in Germany), I was able to find exactly the new laptop charger I needed! If you've been keeping up with the vlogs, you know my laptop charger has crapped out. Thankfully, Media Markt in Traunstein had everything I needed (and a lot more)!
Once in Munich, I found Melanie and Robin (you'll recognize them from my Madrid videos!) and enjoyed my first German sausage! Btw, it was delicious.
Since we're here in Munich for Oktoberfest, it was important we tried to find our dirndls! (Dirndls are traditional Bavarian female clothes, nearly mandatory for Oktoberfest.) If you're heading to Oktoberfest and are wondering where you can buy a dirndl, it turns out, you can get dirndls for 40 euros at the Munich train station!

The Free State of Bavaria is a state of Germany, located in the southeast. With an area of 70,548 square kilometres (27,200 sq mi), it is the largest state by area, forming almost 20% of the total land area of Germany. Bavaria is Germany's second most populous state (after North Rhine-Westphalia), with 12.5 million inhabitants. Bavaria's capital and largest city is Munich, the third largest city in Germany.
The oldest uninteruptedly existing state of Europe, it was established as a duchy in the mid first millennium. In the 17th century, the Duke of Bavaria became aPrince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. The Kingdom of Bavaria existed from 1806 to 1918, and Bavaria has since been a free state (republic). Modern Bavaria also includes parts of the historical regions of Franconia, Upper Palatinate and Swabia.
