The Pfaffendorf Bridge is the oldest bridge over the Rhine at Koblenz, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It carries federal highway B 49 over the Rhine, and connects central Koblenz with the suburbs of Pfaffendorf and Ehrenbreitstein. The first bridge was completed in 1864. It was destroyed in the Second World War and the current bridge was opened in 1953.

Saxon Switzerland is a hilly climbing area and national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic it forms the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Saxon Switzerland alone has some 1,000 climbing peaks, as well as several hollows. The area is popular with Dresden locals and international climbers. The administrative district for the area is Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. The fortress of Königstein is a well-known landmark.

Koblenz is a ancient German city situated on both banks of the Rhine at its confluence with the Moselle, where the Deutsches Eck and its monument of Emperor William I on horseback are situated.

After Mainz and Ludwigshafen am Rhein, it is the third largest city in Rhineland-Palatinate. Koblenz lies in the Rhineland.

Koblenz is a gateway to the terraced vineyards and ruined castles of the Rhine Gorge. A cable car connects to the hilltop Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which hosts museums and cultural events. South along the river is the neo-Gothic Stolzenfels Castle with its gardens.

The old city was triangular in shape, two sides being bounded by the Rhine and Mosel and the third by a line of fortifications. The Koblenz Hauptbahnhof was built on a spacious site outside the former walls at the junction of the Cologne-Mainz railway and the strategic Metz-Berlin line.
The Rhine is crossed by the Pfaffendorf Bridge, originally the location of a rail bridge. The Moselle is spanned by a Gothic freestone bridge of 14 arches.

Since 1890, the city has consisted of the Altstadt and the Neustadt or Klemenstadt. Of these, the Altstadt is closely built and has only a few fine streets and squares, while the Neustadt possesses numerous broad streets and a handsome frontage along the Rhine.

In the more ancient part of Koblenz stand several buildings which have a historical interest. Prominent among these, near the point of confluence of the rivers, is the Basilica of St. Castor or Kastorkirche, dedicated to Castor of Karden, with four towers.

In the modern part of the city lies the palace, Residenzschloss, with one front looking towards the Rhine, the other into the Neustadt.

Malerweg Tag 2: Von Hohnstein nach Altendorf

Die zweite Etappe (laut Wanderführern eigentlich die dritte) führte uns heute zu viert über 14 km von Honstein nach Altendorf unweit von Bad Schandau. Dabei kamen wir an der Gautschgrotte und der Brand-Aussicht vorbei und durchquerten Teile des Sebnitztals und des Kohlichtgrundes. Dieses Mal gibt's sogar nach klassischer YouTube-Manier am Ende des Videos noch ein paar Outtakes. ; )
