Piercy is an unincorporated community in Mendocino County, California. It is located on the South Fork of the Eel River 9 miles north-northwest of Leggett, at an elevation of 794 feet .The first post office at Piercy opened in 1920. The name honors Sam Piercy, who settled there around 1900.

Arcata, located 280 miles north of San Francisco , is home to Humboldt State University. Arcata is also the location of the Arcata Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Land Management, which is responsible for the administration of natural resources, lands and mineral programs, including the Headwaters Forest, on approximately 200,000 acres of public land in Northwestern California.
