Paris, France | travel vlog: Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower, Tour Montparnasse, Notre Dame
After spending my 30th birthday at Disneyland Paris I went downtown to see more of Paris. It's actually my 6th visit to Paris and there is just something special about the City of Lights.
I went to see Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel Tower and went up Tour Montparnasse.
I also took some time to visit various sights from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (sorry, I should have said that in the video):
the Latin Quarter where Lestat and Amel meet at the end of Price Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, Notre Dame and Place Joachim-du-Bellay. The latter is a square that covers the area that used to be the Les Innocents cemetery described in Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and The Vampire Armand.

Basilica of St Anne, Jerusalem, birthplace of the Virgin Mary, home of her parents Anne and Joachim
The Basilica of St. Anne in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem, near the Lion’s Gate, marks the traditional site of the birthplace of the Virgin Mary, the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim. The Basilica (Church) is a beautiful 12th-Century Crusader church, restored by France to be as close as possible to the original Basilica. A flight of stone steps descends towards a cave that is considered to be the Virgin Mary’s birthplace in the remains of her parents’, Anne and Joachim, house. The Church is renowned for its amazing acoustics. The Church is next to the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years (John 5:2-14).

Places to see in ( Toulouse - France ) Hotel d'Assezat
The Hôtel d'Assézat in Toulouse, France, is a Renaissance hôtel particulier (palace) of the 16th century which houses the Bemberg Foundation, a major art gallery of the city. The Hôtel d'Assézat was likely built by Toulouse architect Nicolas Bachelier for Pierre d'Assézat, a rich Toulouse manufacturer. The construction of the Hôtel began in 1555 and was not yet completed when Pierre d'Assézat died in 1581. It is an outstanding example of Renaissance palaces architecture of southern France, with an elaborate decoration of the cour d'honneur (courtyard) influenced by Italian manierism and by classicism. The use of brick is typical of Toulouse. The Hôtel now belongs to the City of Toulouse and was restored in the 1980s.
Two sides of the courtyard have a three-level elevation superimposing the three classical orders (Ionic order, Doric order, Corinthian order); It takes up the hierarchy of orders established by the treatise of Serlio. The imposing tower of staircase at the corner rises high enough to be visible in the distance. With the loggia, we find all the elements of a mansion of the Renaissance era. It is one of the first manifestations of French classicism.
Since 1994, the Hôtel d'Assézat has housed the Bemberg Foundation (Fondation Bemberg), an art gallery which presents to the public one of the major private collections of art in Europe: the personal collection of the wealthy Argentine Georges Bemberg (1915–2011). His foundation was created in collaboration with the City of Tolouse. The large Bemberg collection features paintings, drawings, sculptures, ancient books and furniture. Paintings and drawings are the highlights of the collection, especially 19th and early 20th century French paintings (with impressionism, Nabis, post-impressionism and fauvism) and Venetian paintings of the 16th and 18th centuries.
The painting and drawing collection includes an impressive set of 30 paintings by Pierre Bonnard and works by Canaletto, Francesco Guardi, Pietro Longhi, Rosalba Carriera, Giovanni Paolo Pannini, Tiepolo, François Boucher, Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, Hubert Robert, Pieter de Hooch, Jean Clouet, François Clouet, studio of Rogier van der Weyden, Lucas Cranach, Gérard David, Adriaen Isenbrandt, Joachim Patinir, Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Frans Pourbus the Elder, Paris Bordone, Jacopo Bassano, Titian, Paul Veronese, Tintoretto, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Henri Fantin-Latour, Edgar Degas, Édouard Vuillard, Odilon Redon, Paul Sérusier, Paul Gauguin, Louis Valtat, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Gustave Caillebotte, Berthe Morisot, Paul Signac, Paul Cézanne, Georges Rouault, André Derain, Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, Albert Marquet, Maurice de Vlaminck, Kees van Dongen, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Othon Friesz, Amedeo Modigliani and Maurice Utrillo.

Day 18: Paris, Place Vendôme Column
We walked past the Place Vendôme Column in Paris. Napoleon erected the original column, modelled after Trajan's Column (which we later saw a recreation of at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz. The Vendôme Column was torn down on 16 May 1871, by decree of the Paris Commune, but was subsequently re-erected.
