Places to see in ( Saint Tropez - France ) St Tropez Harbor
Places to see in ( Saint Tropez - France ) St Tropez Harbor
The famous Port of Saint Tropez is one of the most emblematic marinas of the French Riviera. It is full of contrast, extremely quiet in the winter and among the most visited in the summer, by boat owners of all kinds, holiday. South of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, once a humble fishing village before becoming a popular resort with the international jet-set, the old harbour and the new marina meet. In the old harbour, several centuries old, yachts at the forefront of modernism mix with traditional fishing boats called “pointus” or ‘pointy’ because of their shape.
The new marina, created to cope with the influx of yachtsmen is divided into two basins separated by the quay de l’Epi. The Saint Tropez harbour is the nerve centre and the place to be seen in town. Above all this, with its famous red lighthouse, the port is a place to stroll in the Mediterranean sun, enjoy the excellent restaurants/cafés around the marina such as the infamous Sénéquier café, and admire the artists continuing the tradition of their illustrious ancestors. The height of its popularity comes once a year, during the 9-day regatta called the “Voiles de Saint Tropez”. The race, which begins at the foot of the Portalet tower and bypasses the Nioulargue buoy before returning to port, brings together 300 of the finest yachts from around the world, including authentic swans and schooners.
Between luxury and tradition, the port of Saint-Tropez sets the tone for the city where its fortifications, citadel, and narrow streets contrast with the posh high-end boutiques and prestigious five-star luxury hotels. In the evening, bars and night-clubs open their doors welcoming well-known figures from around the world whilst private parties are being held in the luxurious villas along the coastline.
A major Mediterranean stopover popular with both cruise liners and yachtsmen, the Saint-Tropez harbour can accommodate about 800 boats including 100 visitors, over an area of 10 hectares. The harbour boasts modern equipment coupled with top customer services provided by a team of 40 people. The team are there to welcome the clients, ensure top safety standards, provide administrative port support, and participate in the maintenance and surveillance of the boats. In addition to this, a ship chandler, victualing, and helipad are also available. The crane and boat hoists can lift up to 15 tons. The port also provides waste collection and fuel delivery by truck from the green lighthouse station.

Istanbul, Turkey As We Travel Europe
Istanbul, Turkey Europe
Welcome to Turkey, sir. We’re in Istanbul, and it’s raining for the first time in weeks. We’re going to go and check into the hostel and hope that the weather clears up for tomorrow. We’re in Istanbul, the most popular city in Turkey. And it’s famous for being the only metropolitan city in the world which is located on two continents, Europe and Asia. We’re going to start the day by visiting the Blue Mosque, which apparently has inside over 20,000 blue tiles on the roof, which it pretty cool. We’re here quite early in the morning. Nine o’clock is when it open, so it just opened up, but it’s just packed with tourists. It’s a very popular place to come, and it’s one of the few things here in Istanbul which is free. It’s just amazing. I can see why people come here. You can tell why it’s called the Blue Mosque, because the inside interior of this mosque is blue, and it’s decorated with such detailed decorations in blue tiles. It’s beautiful. The storekeeper told me that I’d look really good in this one, so I might, I buy it. If he says that I look good, then I must look pretty good. So we just arrived in the Grand Bazaar. It’s one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. It’s a quite bazaar place, and it has over 4,000 shops selling just about anything. Let’s go and get lost.
This market gets between 250,000 to 500,000 visitors a day, so it’s a very busy market. And I’ve been told that you should bargain a lot when you’re here . But I also think that you should keep in mind that the shop owners pay their rent in gold, and I’ve been told that some of them pay up to seven kilos of gold per year just for having a shop here. It’s pretty crazy I think. After walking around all morning, we’ve seeing the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, and now walking down the street we found this cute little Turkish delight shop. And I recognize this one here, it’s the basic Turkish delight. But this one or This one. Apparently this Turkish delights, they look really delicious. Really nice. We’ve got some tea, some Turkish delights, it’s probably not enough for lunch. Yes please. Oopah. Yes please. Twelve times. Yes please. Oh my God. Want to taste this? Oopah, yes please. Take it. I so didn’t expect that. I was just buying some ice cream from the ice cream vendor [laughing]. Pretty crazy I think. He was really good though. The ice cream is really good, but let’s go and find some lunch.
We arrived in Istanbul yesterday and we were really shocked with food prices. We’ve gone to 19 countries so far on the Europe Train Challenge, and this is one of the most expensive. But we found this cool restaurant right next to the Blue Mosque. It’s called Doy Doy, and we got a nice vegetarian meze, some Turkish bread, a Turkish yogurt drink. And some tea. I mean there are a few good places in Istanbul where you can find really good food, even if you are on a budget.
