South Jutland County is a former county on the south-central portion of the Jutland Peninsula in southern Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April, 1970, comprising the former counties of Aabenraa , Haderslev , Sønderborg , and Tønder . The county was abolished effective 1 January, 2007, when the Region of Southern Denmark was formed. Following the reunification of the region with Denmark, the Church of Denmark elevated Haderslev to a diocese in 1923 and divided the region between the dioceses of Ribe and Haderslev . This arrangement remains in effect.

    Koldinghus is a Danish royal castle in the town of Kolding on the south central part of the Jutland peninsula. The castle was founded in the 13th century and was expanded since with many functions ranging from fortress, royal residency, ruin, museum, and the location of numerous wartime negotiations. The castle was founded by Christoffer I in 1268 but the oldest remaining part of buildings is the north side facing the castle lake originally built by king Christoffer III . The western side was later built by king Christian I . King Christian III built the south side and the small towers in the courtyard.     Moesgaard Museum is a Danish regional museum dedicated to archaeology and ethnography. It is located in Højbjerg, a suburb of Aarhus, Denmark. MOMU cooperates with the Institute of Prehistoric Archaeology, Medieval and Renaissance Archaeology and Anthropology at Aarhus University. The main part of the museum’s archaeological collection is of Danish origin. In addition, the Ethnographical Collections contain almost 50,000 artefacts from all over the world.
