A Weekend in Stuttgart - Germany 4K Travel Channel
A weekend in Stuttgart was not really on our agenda. But YouTube has invited to a Creator Day and so we take the opportunity to explore the city after the event.
Friday: Arrival in Stuttgart
On our arrival in Stuttgart, it rains and the darkness falls already. But we're not here for fun. The bad weather can not spoil our good mood and we take the suburban train to our hotel. Afterward, we are looking for a restaurant for dinner.
In the Geißstrasse at the Hans im Glücksbrunnen (Hans in Luck fountain), we will find a place to eat. The fountain was set up after the successful completion of the old town restoration in 1909. The neighborhood around the fountain has developed into a lively scene district where you can also enjoy the night. We choose the inn Platzhirsch. We stay on the ground floor since smoking is allowed here. The upper floor is reserved for non-smokers only. The cozy restaurant is very busy and offers excellent dishes, like the local speciality Maultaschen - Swabian pockets (homemade filled pasta squares).
We will go on a small tour and watch the guests sit on the street while they are drinking and talking. We only knew this from Brussels. As we want to drink another glass of wine, we visit one of the many taverns. Three nice men offer us a place at their table. We are quickly getting into the conversation, and it soon it turns out that they are working at Daimler-Benz. Well, there are not many alternatives in Stuttgart! We quickly come to the issue of electromobility, because on some days the city suffers from a very high particulate matter pollution. Two days later, we actually see an alibi electric car in Stuttgart.
Saturday: YouTube Creator Day
The next day it still rains, but the YouTube Creator Day lets the time pass quickly. We get to know many nice YouTuber and receive many tips and suggestions on how to make our work better.
In the evening, we eat at the Paulaner, which we have already seen on the way to the venue. The ground floor is for smokers and the upper floor for non-smokers, just as in the place we visited the day before. It reminds us strongly of places in Munich. However, we notice that Stuttgart is the better Bavaria since smokers are still tolerated here.
Sunday: Walk through the city of Stuttgart
Finally, the sun shines again.

Ein Wochenende in Stuttgart stand eigentlich nicht auf unserem Plan. Doch YouTube hat zum Creator Day eingeladen und so nutzen wir, im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung, die Möglichkeit die Stadt etwas näher kennenlernen.
Freitag: Ankunft in Stuttgart
Bei unserer Ankunft in Stuttgart regnet es und die Dunkelheit bricht bereits herein. Doch wir sind ja nicht zum Vergnügen hier und lassen uns unsere gute Laune nicht verderben. Mit der S-Bahn fahren wir zunächst in unser Hotel. Anschließend suchen wir ein Restaurant zum Abendessen.
In der Geißstraße beim „Hans im Glück Brunnen“ werden wir fündig. Der Brunnen wurde 1909 zum erfolgreichen Abschluss der Altstadtsanierung errichtet. Das Viertel um den Brunnen hat sich zu einem lebhaften Szeneviertel entwickelt, in dem man auch die Nacht durchfeiern kann. Wir wählen das Wirtshaus „Platzhirsch“. Wir bleiben im Erdgeschoss, da hier noch Rauchen erlaubt ist. Das Obergeschoss ist den Nichtrauchern vorbehalten. Das gemütliche Lokal wird heftig frequentiert und bietet ausgezeichnete Gerichte an (Maultaschen, eine schwäbische Spezialität).
Anschließen machen wir einen kleinen Rundgang und beobachten, dass hier die Gäste auch auf der Straße stehen, während sie etwas trinken und sich unterhalten. Das kannten wir bisher nur aus Brüssel. Wir wollen noch ein Glas Wein trinken und besuchen noch eines der vielen Lokale. Drei nette Männer bieten uns einen Platz bei sich am Tisch an. Schnell kommen wir ins Gespräch und es stellt sich rasch heraus, dass sie bei Daimler-Benz arbeiten. Naja, viele Alternativen gibt es in Stuttgart ja nicht! Schnell landen wir beim Thema Elektromobilität, denn an manchen Tagen leidet die Stadt unter einer hohen Feinstaubverschmutzung.
Am übernächsten Tag haben wir in Stuttgart tatsächlich ein Alibi Elektroauto in Stuttgart gesehen.
Samstag: Youtube Creator Day
Am nächsten Tag regnet es immer noch, doch der YouTube Creator Day lässt die Zeit rasch vergehen. Wir lernen viele nette YouTuber kennen und erhalten eine Reihe Tipps und Anregungen, um unsere Arbeit besser zu machen.
Am Abend gegen wir ins Paulaner essen, das wir am Weg zum Tagungsort bereits gesehen habe. Ähnlich wie im Platzhirsch ist auch hier das Erdgeschoss für Raucher und das Obergeschoss für Nichtraucher reserviert. Es erinnert uns stark an Lokale in München. Allerdings stellen wir fest, dass Stuttgart das bessere Bayern ist, da hier noch Raucher toleriert werden.
Sonntag: Spaziergang durch Stuttgart
Endlich strahlt wieder die Sonne.

Just before Christmas I meet the friends I was hiking the Kungsleden (goo.gl/DrgVuE) and we went on a hike on the Malerweg in Saxony. It is an amazing landscape with a great nature.

from the Moselle via Frankfurt and Berlin to Gothenburg - Germany, Sweden 4K Travel Channel
On our trip from the Moselle to Gothenburg, we first have to take our usual railway line along the Moselle to Koblenz.
We relax and enjoy the beautiful valleys of the Moselle. In Koblenz, we change the train to Frankfurt that travels along the Rhine valley. Even if this is not our first trip along this route, we are always impressed by the beautiful scenery.
In Frankfurt, we switch to an airplane. Since we did not get a direct flight to Gothenburg, we first fly to Berlin. It is still the old Tegel airport, which we have known already for decades. During the approach and departure, the Berlin glacial valley is clearly visible. Once shaped by glaciers, it is characterized today by a number of rivers and lakes.
The stay in Berlin lasts for only approximately 1.5 hours. So there is enough time only for a quick snack and a few photos.
We quickly reached Sweden with its vast forests, that are only interrupted by a few lakes and rivers.
After the landing in Gothenburg, we take a bus to the 10 km remote center. On the way to the city we get a little taste of the sights of the next few days.

Auf unserer Reise von der Mosel nach Göteborg und anschließend in den hohen Norden, nehmen wir zuerst unsere üblichen Eisenbahnlinie entlang der Mosel nach Koblenz.
Wir lehnen uns entspannt zurück und genießen das schöne Moseltal. In Koblenz steigen wir in den Zug nach Frankfurt um, der durch das malerische Rheintal fährt. Auch wenn dies nicht unsere erste Reise auf dieser Strecke ist, sind wir immer von der schönen Landschaft beeindruckt.
In Frankfurt steigen wir ins Flugzeug um. Da wir keinen Direktflug nach Göteborg bekommen haben, fliegen wir weiter nach Berlin. Es ist immer noch der alte Flughafen Tegel, den wir bereits seit Jahrzehnten kennen. Beim Landeanflug und Abflug ist gut das Berliner Urstromtal erkennbar, das durch Gletscher ausgeprägt wurde und sich heute durch eine Vielzahl an Flüssen und Seen auszeichnet.
Der Aufenthalt in Berlin dauert nur ungefähr 1,5 Stunden und so reicht die Zeit lediglich für einen kleinen Snack und ein paar Fotos.
Rasch erreichen wir Schweden mit seinen ausgedehnten Wäldern, die nur von einigen Seen und Flüssen durchbrochen sind.
Nach der Landung in Göteborg nehmen wir einen Bus zum 10 km entfernten Zentrum. Auf der Fahrt in die Stadt bekommen wir einen kleinen Vorgeschmack von den Sehenswürdigkeiten der nächsten Tage.

We went back to the Sächsische Schweiz and climbed Lilienstein for the second time. This time the aura was rainy and very misty, super magical. the fog created very milky surroundings. A bit scary! :)

Bastei - Felsenburg Elbsandsteingebirge - sächsische Schweiz - Dresden
Die Bastei (305 m ü. NN) und die Felsenburg sind eine Felsformation mit Aussichtsplattform in der Sächsischen Schweiz auf dem rechten Ufer der Elbe zwischen dem Kurort Rathen und Stadt Wehlen. Sie zählt zu den meistbesuchten Touristenattraktionen der Sächsischen Schweiz. Von der Bastei fällt das schmale Felsriff über 194 m steil zur Elbe ab. Sie bietet eine weite Aussicht ins Elbtal und über das Elbsandsteingebirge.

Saxon Switzerland is a national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic it forms the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
The Bastei is a spectacular rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Germany. Reaching a height of 305 metres above sea level, the jagged rocks of the Bastei were formed by water erosion over one million years ago. They are situated near Rathen, not far from Pirna southeast of the city of Dresden and are the major landmark of the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
The Bastei has been a tourist attraction for over 200 years. In 1824 a wooden bridge was constructed to link several rocks for the visitors. This bridge was replaced in 1851 by the present Bastei Bridge made of sandstone. The rock formations and vistas have inspired several well-known artists, among them Caspar David Friedrich.

Saxon Switzerland National Park, Saxony, Germany, May 2015 - Day 1 (Malerweg Sections 1 & 2)
Hiking in Germany's Saxon Switzerland National Park, incorporating sections of the Malerweg Trail, with my friend from Vienna, Markus Schellhorn, May 2015. Our base was a campsite in the village of Mittelndorf, not far from Bad Schandau, south-east of Dresden. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic, the Saxon Switzerland region forms the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Saxon Switzerland alone has some 1,000 climbing peaks, as well as several hollows. The area is popular with Dresden locals and international climbers alike. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
