Japan Trains: Hokkaido - at Shintoku Station

Shintoku station is located on the Nemuro Main Line, (Takikawa to Nemuro via Obihiro & Kushiro), it is also the final station on the Sekisho Line from Minami-Chitose.

The actual junction between the Nemuro & Sekisho lines in located within the Kami-Ochiai Tunnel, 24km west of Shintoku.

0859 hrs: Super Ozora #1, 0702hrs service from Sapporo to Kushiro departs Shintoku with a 7 car 283 series DMU

Numerous KiHa 40 series DMU’s were idling in the station area.

0904 hrs: Arrival of local service 0549hrs ex Takikawa with with KiHa 40-1741 DMU, this train continued as the 0906 hrs local service to Obihiro

0927 hrs: 6 car 261 series DMU led by set ST-1203 arrives with the 0848hrs Obihiro to Sapporo Super Tokashi #4 service.

Himeji Castle, also known as white egret castle or white heron castle. A definite must see if you're in the area. It was only a one hour train ride away from Osaka. The Castle is massive and majestic. It's also a UNESCO world heritage site. Also a quick tour of the hostel I was staying at in Osaka, the lounge also doubled as a bar/cafe.
