Beautiful Western North Carolina, Beautiful
God has created an awesome wonder in western North Carolina. The Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains converge in this area. There are many scenic drives, such as the Cherohala Skyway, Tail of the Dragon, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and many others. There are many state and national parks that are a must-see. The back-road scenic drive from Colletsville to Blowing Rock is a great place to experience the wonders of a mountain stream called Wilson Creek. Cataloochee Valley is a great place to view wildlife such as the roaming elk. Maggie Valley is a great take-off point, as is Blowing Rock, Robbinsville, and Andrews. Fall is the best time to visit this area for the wonderful Fall Foliage experience. Grandfather Mountain and Mount Mitchell are two of the most scenic mountains in the eastern United States. Lake Lure, the site for the lake scenes of Dirty Dancing, is a great scenic walk with the lake and the mountains for a background. This area is truly one of the most beautiful in the United States. It is a great place to experience the beautiful handiwork of our Father who art in Heaven. God's not dead! He's still here! He's just hiding in the mountains waiting on true seekers.

Mountain Views of Massachusetts
Last year, I went on a trip throughout the Northeastern United States - all the way from North Carolina to Maine. I wanted to visit places I hadn't been to before - both typical highlights of the state as well as locations off the beaten path. I used AtlasObscura.com to help meet the latter condition.

driving through Murphy, North Carolina on U.S. 64/74 west and U.S. 19/129 south
This shows a good portion of what the main highway through Murphy, NC looks like driving westbound. This highway has multiple concurrencies during this stretch. It is U.S. 64 and U.S. 74 west as well as U.S. 19 south and also U.S. 129 south. The date is Sunday, May 28, 2017, Memorial Day weekend of 2017. This is the Sunday before Memorial Day and we have seen a lot of white water rafting activities in NC and will see more later in TN. FYI, Murphy is the town where U.S. 64 joins U.S. 74. Westbound they are concurrent, while eastbound those two highways are separate.

Wilmington, NC offers a wide array of things to do and see. Horse-drawn carriages still click along the downtown riverwalk and riverboats cruise its 300-year-old harbor, but the past is only part of the coastal city's story. What was once a busy port teeming with markets, warehouses and the world's largest cotton exchange has become a lively spot for arts, shopping, family activities, fine dining and nightlife. University life continues to grow and a new convention center has helped spawn a revitalization of the Cape Fear River business district.

Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina. It’s home to the South Carolina State House, a Greek Revival building set in gardens dotted with monuments. Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is a huge park with animal enclosures and botanical gardens. A diverse collection spanning centuries is on display at the Columbia Museum of Art. Dating to 1823, the Robert Mills House is a mansion and museum surrounded by ornate gardens.
The city is located approximately 13 miles (21 km) northwest of the geographic center of South Carolina, and is the primary city of the Midlands region of the state. It lies at the confluence of the Saluda River and the Broad River, which merge at Columbia to form the Congaree River. Columbia is home to the University of South Carolina, the state's flagship university and the largest in the state, and is also the site of Fort Jackson, the largest United States Army installation for Basic Combat Training. Columbia is also located 20 miles west of the site of McEntire Joint National Guard Base, which is operated by the U.S. Air Force and is used as a training base for the 169th Fighter Wing of The South Carolina Air National Guard. Columbia is also the location of the South Carolina State House, which is the center of government for the state. In 1860, the city was the location of the South Carolina Secession Convention, which marked the departure of the first state from the Union in the events leading up to the Civil War.
