Moosburg an der Isar is a town in the Landkreis Freising of Bavaria, Germany. The oldest town between Regensburg and Italy, it lies on the river Isar at an altitude of 421 m . It has 18,033 inhabitants and covers an area of 44 km². It is easily reached by the A 92 autobahn and regional trains on the Munich–Regensburg line. Furthermore, it takes just 10 minutes to get to Munich airport. Moosburg is popular with commuters who travel to Munich, Freising, and Munich airport. There is considerable industry in the town consisting of chemical, electro-technical, food processing, and machine-building plants.

2. Stalag VII-A Memorial Fountain Moosburg
Stalag VII-A was Germany's largest prisoner-of-war camp during World War II, located just north of the town of Moosburg in southern Bavaria. The camp covered an area of 35 hectares . It served also as a transit camp through which prisoners, including officers, were processed on their way to other camps. At some time during the war, prisoners from every nation fighting against Germany passed through it. At the time of its liberation on 29 April 1945, there were about 80,000 prisoners in the camp, mostly from France and the Soviet Union. Many others were billeted in Arbeitskommando working in factories, repairing railroads or on farms.

The Pilgrimage Church of Wies is an oval rococo church, designed in the late 1740s by brothers J. B. and Dominikus Zimmermann, the latter of whom lived nearby for the last eleven years of his life. It is located in the foothills of the Alps, in the municipality of Steingaden in the Weilheim-Schongau district, Bavaria, Germany. It is said that, in 1738, tears were seen on a dilapidated wooden figure of the Scourged Saviour. This miracle resulted in a pilgrimage rush to see the sculpture. In 1740, a small chapel was built to house the statue but it was soon realized that the building would be too small for the number of pilgrims it attracted, and so Steingaden Abbey decided to commission a separate shrine. Chiemsee is a freshwater lake in Bavaria, Germany, near Rosenheim. It is often called the Bavarian Sea. The rivers Großache and Prien flow into the lake from the south, and the river Alz flows out towards the north. The Alz flows into the Inn which then merges with the Danube. The Chiemsee is divided into the bigger, north section, in the northeast, called Weitsee, and the Inselsee, in the southwest. The Chiemgau, the region surrounding the Chiemsee, is a famous recreation area.

Freising

On December 17th 2013 we went for a short hike to Freising which is not far away from Munich. Freising is a very nice town with an impressing Dome. The hike around Freising took us also to Weihenstephan which is not only famous for its beer. The total hike is about 12 km. A map you can get at the tourist information center at the Marienplatz in Freising.

Am 17. Dezember 2013 sind wir für eine kurze Wanderung nach Freising gefahren. Freising ist eine hübsche Stadt nicht weit von München entfernt und mit einem beeindruckenden Dom. Die Wanderung führte uns auch nach Weihenstephan, welches nicht nur wegen seines Bieres berühmt ist. Die gesamte Wanderung ist etwa 12 km lang. Eine Karte kann man beim Tourismusbüro am Marienplatz in Freising bekommen.
