    The Museo Nacional de Costa Rica is the national museum of Costa Rica, located in the capital of San José. It is located at Calle 17, between Central and Second Avenue, Cuesta de Moras, in the Bellavista Fortress, a crenallated, ochre colored building opposite the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica. The fortress was built in 1917 and was originally a military barracks: the exterior walls still have many bullets lodged in them from the country's 1948 civil war.     The Museo del Jade Marco Fidel Tristán Castro is an archaeological museum in San José, Costa Rica. It is since 2014 located in front of Plaza de la Democracia. It was founded in 1977 by Fidel Tristán Castro, the first president of the INS. The museum has an extensive collection of pre-Columbian artifacts, such as stone tables , ceramics, ceremonial heads, adzes, and other decorative pieces from 500 BC to 800AD. The jade room of the museum also displays translucent jade pendants while the 11th floor museum lobby contains a sculpture by José Sancho, a white marbe called Plenitude.
