Scarborough is a town on the North Sea coast of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the town lies between 10–230 feet above sea level, rising steeply northward and westward from the harbour on to limestone cliffs. The older part of the town lies around the harbour and is protected by a rocky headland. With a population of just over 61,000, Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. The town has fishing and service industries, including a growing digital and creative economy, as well as being a tourist destination. People who live in the town are known as Scarborians.

York Landmarks, North Yorkshire, England

York is filled with interesting things to see. We start by walking the city walls and visiting the Bars (or gates). The Romans built walls here centuries ago, and remnants of their work still appear.

Back into the city we visit the Merchant Adventurer's Hall, a medieval guildhall, still used today for important civic business. It wasn't all about money - these organizations also supported hospitals, education and other charities.

A short walk away we visit Clifford's Tower, (or Cliffort's - depending on the source). This fortress, built on an artificial mound, has been a central military defense for about 1000 years. Of course it's changed over the centuries, and the surviving edifice looks like it could lean-over at any moment. The location makes for wonderful views of the city.
