It specializes in animals of the Nordic fauna, although orphaned animals from elsewhere in the world are sometimes temporarily housed there until a new home can be found for them. The zoo has about 900 animals, representing almost 100 species. These animals are most often kept in large enclosures with natural environments. 6. Stenshuvud National ParkKivik Stenshuvud is a hill in the southeastern corner of Sweden, in the province of Scania, close to Kivik in Simrishamn Municipality. Since 1986, it is one of the National parks of Sweden. The park covers an area of about 3.9 km2 . The hill is 97 m high and faces the Baltic Sea. Since the surrounding landscape is relatively flat, it can be seen from a great distance and has traditionally been used as a landmark for seafarers. Many visitors trek up the hill to enjoy the view which is very good in clear weather. Most of the area is covered with broadleaf forest, especially European hornbeam. The park also contains heaths, meadows and swamps. Because of the mild climate and varied habitats, many different animal and plant species can be encountered in the park. Söderåsen National Park was created in 2001 and stretches over 1,625 hectares. The nature is varied and offers leafy deciduous forests and majestic talus slopes with high rocks, flowing watercourses and panoramic views. Skäralid, Odensjön in Nackarpsdalen and the outlooks Kopparhatten, Hjortsprånget and Lierna along Skäralidsdalen are particularly popular destinations. Söderåsen National Park is located 30 km east of Helsingborg in Skåne.
