The dam is visible from U.S. Route 70, which crosses its spillway just west of Sawyer. Lake Hugo features approximately 110 miles of shoreline and covers over 13,250 acres , or 20 square miles . Its normal pool elevation is 404.5 feet above sea level and its normal storage capacity is 157,600 acre feet . At flood stage its elevation is at 437.5 feet above sea level and it is capable of storing 966,700 acre feet of flood waters.     Tenkiller Ferry Lake, or more simply, Lake Tenkiller, is a reservoir in eastern Oklahoma formed by the damming of the Illinois River. The earth-fill dam was constructed between 1947 and 1952 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for purposes of flood control, hydroelectric power generation, water supply and recreation. It went into full operation in 1953. The lake and dam were named for the Tenkiller family, prominent Cherokees who owned the land and ferry that were bought for the project.

The Most Beautiful Place in Oklahoma - Tulsa Family Vlog

Our family recently moved to Tulsa Oklahoma from Alaska and this is by far the most beautiful place in Oklahoma we've been to since moving to Tulsa in 2017. Natural Falls State Park is an Oklahoma state park just east of Tulsa off highway 412 near Route 66. It's definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the Tulsa Oklahoma area! Tulsa isn't really known for it's hiking but if you're into hiking then you need to go here! Especially if you have a young family like we do. The trails are pretty beaten and controlled but there are still plenty of spots to wonder of if you feel the desire to. Again, it's called Natural Falls State Park near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
