The name Pragelato, meaning icy meadow, has been derived from the harsh climate and the fact that the ground is covered with ice for long periods.     The Via Lattea is a winter sports area in the Italian and French Alps, straddling the French-Italian border at Claviere/Montgenèvre. Located some 70 km west of Turin, it comprises the five Piedmontese resorts of Claviere , Sansicario , Sauze d'Oulx , Pragelato and Sestriere and additionally the French resort Montgenèvre . Altogether there are 400 km of skiable pistes, 120 of them with artificial snow, and 88 lifts. The lowest lift begins at 1350m in the service village of Cesana Torinese; the highest point is Mont Motta in the Sestriere ski area, at 2800m. Claviere and Montgenèvre are connected at the lower limit of their ski area in the frontier pass, and at their highest point below the top of Mont Gimont but are not easily reachable from the other areas, relying on a slow lift system...

    Pila is an Alpine ski-resort in the Aosta Valley region of northern Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Gressan. There are more than 24 pistes , including 4 blue runs, 29 red runs and 4 black runs, with a pipe zone and a slopestyle zone. There is one cable car, 3 gondolas, 8 chairlifts and 5 conveyors. The resort itself is at 1,814 metres altitude, while the highest skiing can be done at 2,700m.The nearest city to Pila is Aosta, to which it is connected by road and also a cable car system.
