Schwielowsee is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the south and west of the city of Potsdam. The villages of Caputh, Ferch and Geltow, on the banks of the lake, form the municipality of Schwielowsee. The lake is some 5.4 kilometres long, with a maximum width of 2.0 kilometres and a surface area is 7.86 square kilometres . It lies at an elevation of 29.3 metres above sea level, and has a maximum depth of 9.1 metres . The navigable River Havel flows through the eastern end of the lake, entering it at Caputh via a short channel from the Templiner See, and exiting to the north. Tropical Islands Resort is a tropical theme park located in the former Brand-Briesen Airfield in Halbe, municipality in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in Brandenburg, Germany, 50 kilometres from the southern boundary of Berlin. It is housed in a former airship hangar , the biggest free-standing hall in the world. The hall belonged to the company Cargolifter until its insolvency in 2002. Tropical Islands has a maximum capacity of 8,200 visitors a day. In its first year of operation it attracted 975,000 visitors, according to the operators. The Tanjong company reported 155,000 visitors in the business year February 2004 to February 2005. Approximately 500 people work at Tropical Islands. The Museum Barberini is an art museum at the Old Market Square, Potsdam. It was rebuilt on the site of the Barberini Palace, that was destroyed by bombing in 1945 and demolished afterwards. The construction of the Museum Barberini was started in August 2013 and was completed in December 2016, the official opening to the public was on 23 January 2017. The Guardian refers to the Barberini first in the top 10 new museum openings in 2017.

Hasso Plattner, founder of software enterprise SAP and philanthropic patron, funded the Museum Barberini. The charitable German organization Stadtbild Deutschland awarded the reconstruction of the Barberini Palace as Building of the Year 2016.

The art gallery exhibits Plattner’s collection of artworks of the former German Democratic Republic, as well as special exhibitions that range from the Old Masters to contemporary art with a focus on impressionism, including works of Rodin, Monet and Edvard Munch. Three temporary exhibitions are planned each year, with major loan collections from international museums and private collections.
