Our hike to the Yakfields around Shangri-La and our Tibetan Homestay we arranged with: Khampa Caravan.
Loved it! The hike is definitely lonely and unique, though the village was not as spectaculair as we'd hoped.
And for those who wonder: Till early 2000's this town was called Zongdian, but the government thought it would attrack more tourists if they would rename the place Shangri-La. After the novel of James Hilton. Where Shangri-La is described as a mystical paradise on earth....
In 2014 the old city got fire and hundreds of houses were destroyed. Though rebuilding goes fast!

So the following day, we hopped into the car to Shangri-la right after discovering the beauty of Lijiang . We went to the Tiger Leaping Gorge which is one of the deepest gorges with spectacular sceneries on the planet, and it has the best hiking trail in the China. We continued our journey to Shangri-la's Old Town and even the Potatso/ Pudacuo National Park.

About the Video:
I have to say, Shangri la, China has been one of the best places to continue building my travel photography portfolio. One of the best places in all of Yunnan Provinces to take pictures, Shangri la is home to some interesting people as well as some stunning sights such as the one this video is focused on: the Songzanlin Monastery, which is also known as the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery.
In this video, I take you through the process of getting a photo of this amazing monastery in China's Yunnan Province up near the border of Tibet. I start out by wandering through the monastery using a super-wide lens. The light was phenomenal early on in my shooting session at the monastery and got some cool images of both the old temple and some of the Buddhist Monks that were wandering around.
As the sun went down, the clouds disappeared on me, unfortunately, and I had to work with some pretty harsh evening light. However, I managed to grab one shot of the hills behind the temple glowing quite beautifully. This is the image that I show you how to get. I also take you into my Adobe Lightroom and walk you through the steps of editing an image like this.
