Zimmerman is a city in Sherburne County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,228 at the 2010 census.Zimmerman is mostly a rural community. U.S. Highway 169 serves as a main route in the area. The community is located 42 miles north-northwest of Minneapolis; and 33 miles east-southeast of St. Cloud.

1. Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Chanhassen
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a 1,137-acre horticultural garden and arboretum located about 4 miles west of Chanhassen, Minnesota at 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, Minnesota. It is part of the Department of Horticultural Science in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota, and open to the public every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. An admission fee is charged. It is the Upper Midwest's largest public garden. The arboretum's earliest area was established in 1907 as the Horticultural Research Center, which developed cold-hardy crops such as the Honeycrisp apple and Northern Lights azaleas. 1940 Tacoma Narrows Bridge
Slender, elegant and graceful, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge stretched like a steel ribbon across Puget Sound in 1940. The third longest suspension span in the world opened on July 1st. Only four months later, the great span's short life ended in disaster. Galloping Gertie, collapsed in a windstorm on November 7,1940.

The bridge became famous as the most dramatic failure in bridge engineering history. Now, it's also one of the world's largest man-made reefs. The sunken remains of Galloping Gertie were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 to protect her from salvagers.

A dramatic tale of failure and success
The story of the failure of the 1940 Narrows Bridge and the success of the Current Narrows Bridge is a great American saga. When Galloping Gertie splashed into Puget Sound, it created ripple effects across the nation and around the world. The event changed forever how engineers design suspension bridges. Gertie's failure led to the safer suspension spans we use today.

Update About Norwegian Bliss Onboard Fire and Panama Canal Transit! The Norwegian Bliss had an onboard fire in it's incinerator room but thankfully the fire was contained to some debris around the incinerator and was quickly put out. It took firefighters about 15 mins to fully douse the fire and then the crew had to contend with the smoke form the fire. No other part of the ship was affected by the incident. Today May 14 2018 the Norwegian Bliss is making her way through the Panama Canal as the largest cruise ship ever to transit the canal. The Canal was widened recently and there will be 20 ships passing throught the canal that could not have done so in previous years.
