Venango County, PA History
Venango County was at the heart of the oil boom in the United States during the eighteen fifties. Following the boom, Venango had earned the nickname the valley that changed the world.
Today, the Pennsylvania oil rush is remembered at the Drake Well Museum, located in Titusville, Pennsylvania, at the exact same location that Drake and Bissell drilled for their oil.
The Pennsylvania oil rush created a number of boom towns including Oil City and Franklin, which still exist today.
Venango County is also home to the Venango Museum of Art, Science and Industry in Oil City. The featured exhibit is Black Gold or Black Magic. Dense with artifacts the exhibit consists of ten areas that explore the influences of oil on every day life, from the eighteen hundreds to today.

Pt 3: Health Hike 8/2016 (Beaver County, PA) 20X Time Lapse Drive Home
This is the third and final part of the Health Hike (around 8/25/2016). This is an 11 mile fund raising hike on the North Country Trail that begins at the Ohio/ PA State Line, and ends in Darlington, PA. Having recently attended the Wampum Chapter of the North Country Trail Association's Monthly meeting, I decided to volunteer for an event (as the sweep). I had never been a sweep, or worked an aid station at an event. I usually do the event as a participant, so I wanted to give back. I drove to the end point (Darlington, PA) and met Dennis Garret (Wampum North Country Trail Chapter President) and land owner of the North Country Trail (about 4 miles from OH into PA)- Watts Mills. That is where I would pick up as sweep. My job was to follow the last hiker to mile 11, although I would meet another person, who would also be the sweep from mile 7 to 11.
The title of this movie is Nobody's sweep, because I arrived at my station around 10AM (somewhat early), but not too early to soon expect the last hiker to come through. At that point I could begin hiking East on the North Country Trail. I waited, and waited, and waited. I hiked up and down a few sections of the NCT, and returned to the aid station. Finally around 12:34PM (or maybe it was 1:34PM) the last hiker came in, with an entourage of other people who had hikes with him, and also hiked back to see if this hiker and those who had hiked with him were OK. It was great to see that he was OK.
Unfortunately, by the time this hiker arrived at mile 4, the second to last hiker had just finished at mile 11. I hiked very fast to meet the person at mile 7, who waited nearly as long, if not longer than me (and was probably wondering where I was). Eventually, I met the other sweep, and we both got lost on a section of trail we were supposed to know, and ended up hiking in circles. Around 4:45PM, we both finally arrived at mile 11, where Dennis Garret was waiting for us. He was wondering what happened to the sweeps, who swept for no actual event participants.
FYI: Some parts of this movie are out of order. Somehow the camera numbered the video clips randomly, and left me to figure out what the approximate order was a year later. Sorry.
