Exploring The Appian Way + Ancient Roman Food - Rome Off The Beaten Path
We visited the Ancient Appian Way (Via Appia Antica) in Rome, Italy which is one of the oldest roads in Europe and a must see when in Rome! This is such an amazing getaway from the hustle and bustle and hordes of tourists in Rome as well as a great place to try Ancient Roman Food: Garum!
Garum was an ancient fish condiment used during the Roman Empire, but was actually invented in Greece. I made the mistake of describing it as a dish when it's in fact a condiment here.
We also saw the Tomb of Cecilia Matella as well as the Catacombs of Saint Sebastian (Catacombs of St Sebastian)
About us: We are Daniel, Robyn, Ava, Rose and Ella, and together we are The Go To Family. We love to travel! We also love food, exploring historical sites and, of course, doing loads of fun things together as a family. In my videos, you will see me and Robyn tackle every obstacle that traveling with kids throws at us. We do traveling almost exactly the same way as we did before having kids, it just takes a little bit more planning. But it's even more fun and rewarding to be able to show them new cultures and live new experiences with them at the same time! Our mission is to inspire other Millennials to travel with kids.
Our 7-year-old daughter, Ava, also has her own YouTube channel. Feel free to check it out right here:

Lisbon: Best Spring Vacations
Lisbon: Best Spring Vacations.
Often overlooked for its popular European cousins, Lisbon specializes in lulling tourists into its laid-back charm. Perched atop seven hills, its alleyways wind between colorful, centuries-old buildings. Fanciful St. George's Castle peeks out to the skyline, lending an Old World mystery to the burgeoning cosmopolitan city. And despite the modern sleek buildings that are slowly rising throughout the city, village life holds strong.
What to Eat?
Lisbon is among the easiest cities in Europe to find a good, affordable meal. This is true for breakfast, lunch, dinner and any meal in between – even in many tourist districts. If you're on a budget, it's possible to experience the best of traditional Portuguese food for less than 30 euros per day, per person. Thankfully, Lisbon also has a cosmopolitan restaurant scene, and you can find just about any type of cuisine around town.
The Portuguese have cultivated a rich seafood diet, and you can find fish and shellfish on most lunch and dinner menus. Bacalhau (salted cod) is an especially popular traditional Portuguese dish. But it's an acquired taste, so you might want to consider a backup option if you're not feeling adventurous.
Best Things To Do in Lisbon.
Lisbon is probably best known for its colonialist history, ornate architecture and tradition of Fado music. But some of its best features are in the every day – spectacular hilltop vistas in Alfama or at St. George's Castle, pleasant year-round weather and friendly locals. To enjoy these, bring some comfortable footwear and a pocket map of the public transit system, or just hop on Tram 28 to see it all. Plan on spending a half-day to a full day exploring the waterfront neighborhood of Belém, or maybe plan a daytrip to the palace-heavy Sintra, located 20 miles northwest of Lisbon.
Best Times to Visit Lisbon.
The best time to visit Lisbon is either from March to May or September to October, because the weather is still warm, hotel rates are cheaper and there are fewer crowds than in summer. In those seasons, you might also be able to squeeze in a few beach days. The summer sees hot temperatures and crowded shores. Winters in Lisbon are warm for Europe, with the lows dipping into the mid-40s.

Let's Go - Peru
'Let's Go' adventure through the many unique and diverse activities found throughout Peru.
In July, the Beautiful Destinations team went to Peru with 10 creators to explore & document different facets of Peru with the Luxury Collection. The intent was to bring together a diverse group of people in hopes that they could collaborate and learn from one another, to take something tangible home both from an experiential perspective and creative.
This video is a recap of that event, showcasing the diverse activities and locations experienced throughout the country. Great relationships were made and memories created that will last a lifetime.

ITALY: Hiking and hitch-hiking on the E1 Trail
Travelling across Italy became the first stage of the project Around the World by Foot, within which Valery Shanin explores the best pedestrian trails of the world.
Lyudmila Parova became Valery Shanin's fellow traveler in the hike along the E1 Trail.
The travel begins in Rome. Exactly here, is the largest international airport in Italy.
On the territory of Rome, the left and right banks of Tiber are connected by 26 bridges. Along with new ones, there are also fairly old constructions, that remained.
St. Peter's Cathedral in Vatican — the biggest Catholic church in the world
The Castle of the Holy Angel or Castel Sant'Angelo, initially was the Mausoleum of the Emperor Adrian and members of his family.
The town of Kampoli Apenino is built around a huge karstic landslip, almost of a perfect semicircular shape.
The cozy medieval town Opi, is included in the prestigious list of the most beautiful villages of Italy.
Infiorate, is the flower festival on the occasion of the Catholic holiday of the Christ's Body and Blood.
The famous Italian philosopher, historian and literary critic Benedetto Croce, was born in Peskasseroli, in 1866. But an even greater influence on the destiny of the city and its appeal to tourists, was rendered by the event that took place on September 9, 1922. On this day, the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molize was created. Here is its headquarters. From here the most popular tourist walking trails begin.
The City of Rocca-di-Medzo, has been founded as a military settlement back in the Middle Ages. But when exactly, nobody knows. The oldest part of the city is on the San Kalvario Hill.
The City of Castelluco is located on the rocky hill, 1452 meters above the sea level. It is the highest settlement in Apennines.
In winter, people come here for skiing, and to admire yellow fields of blossoming colza in summer, to wander in the boundless sea of wild flowers. Here you can see the gentians, poppies, narcissuses, violets, asfodels, the violet lady's bedstraws, clovers, cranberries and other types of wild flowers.
The small town of Visso, is located in the Valley of the Neru River, on the ancient road, connecting Rome with Folinio.
The National Park of Monti Sibillini, the name, that can be translated as the Park of Mysterious Mountains, was created in 1993, on the territory of 70 thousand hectares in the Italian regions of Umbria and Marke.
Todi, located in the province of Perugia, on the high hill over the eastern bank of Tiber River, is often called the city, most suitable for life, in the world.
