Port Crescent State Park is a public recreation area on Lake Huron five miles southwest of Port Austin in Huron County at the tip of The Thumb of Michigan. The state park covers 640 acres along state route M-25 in Hume Township. The park occupies the site of Port Crescent, a ghost town which once stood at the mouth of the Pinnebog River. The park was designated a Michigan dark sky preserve in 2012.

US Highway 25 was a part of the United States Numbered Highway System in the state of Michigan that ran from the Ohio state line near Toledo and ended at the tip of The Thumb in Port Austin. The general routing of this state trunkline highway took it northeasterly from the state line through Monroe and Detroit to Port Huron. Along this southern half, it followed undivided highways and ran concurrently along two freeways, Interstate 75 and I-94. Near the foot of the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, US 25 turned north and northwesterly along the Lake Huron shoreline to Port Austin. The Thumb is a region and a peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, so named because the Lower Peninsula is shaped like a mitten. The Thumb area is generally considered to be in the Central Michigan region, located east of the Tri-Cities, and north of Metro Detroit. The region is also branded as the Blue Water Area of Michigan. The counties which constitute the Thumb are those forming the extended peninsula that stretches northward into Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay. There is no formal declaration for which of these counties are part of the Thumb. While virtually all definitions of The Thumb include Huron, Tuscola, and Sanilac counties, most common definitions are extended to include Lapeer and St. Clair counties as well.

Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Underwater Preserve is a United States National Marine Sanctuary on Lake Huron, within the northeastern region of the U.S. state of Michigan. It protects an estimated 116 historically significant shipwrecks ranging from nineteenth-century wooden side-wheelers to twentieth-century steel-hulled steamers. There are a great many wrecks in the sanctuary, and their preservation and protection is a concern for national policymakers. The landward boundary of the sanctuary extends from the western boundary of Presque Isle County to the southern boundary of Alcona County. The sanctuary extends east from the lakeshore to the international border. Alpena is the largest city in the area.

It is open to the public, and currently contains over 1700 varieties of plants hardy in mid-Michigan. The Dow Gardens were started in 1899 by Herbert Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company, and gardener Elzie Côte, on eight acres of flat, sandy land. The Herbert H. Dow House is located at the southwest corner of the gardens. The Alden Dow House and Studio are on the west side of the gardens, separated by a pond. Subsequent generations of the Dow family have continued to develop the gardens.

Dow Diamond is a Minor League baseball stadium located in Midland, Michigan. It is the home of the Single-A Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League. The Loons are affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The stadium is located near Buttles, Ellsworth and State streets in Midland. The Dow Chemical Company, whose world headquarters are in Midland, donated the land for the stadium and also purchased the naming rights to the facility in 2006. The stadium name is a reference to both Dow's logo and that diamond is a slang term for a baseball field.

Michigan is a U.S. state located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The name Michigan is a French alteration of the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, meaning large water.

Port Huron stretches 7 miles along the St. Claire river at the base of lake Huron and is a boater and water lovers paradise. It's also an international border crossing, marked by the spectacular blue water bridge. The downtown is bustling with new restaurants, shops, and great places to enjoy this awesome city.
