Architectural engineers have created some amazing structures in this world but the Veluwemeer Aqueduct in the Netherlands is truly the best. Most aqueducts are basically bridges that are built above water. But the Veluwemeer Aqueduct is a bridge for the passing ships while those driving in cars go through a tunnel underneath the bridge. In other words, it is an underwater tunnel where the ships sail on the top and the cars travel underneath it. Hostel Uptopia - DIRTY DIRTY PLACE
This was the grubbiest most horrible hostel I have ever been in. Hostel/Hotel Utopia is above a Coffee Shop in Amsterdam and no word of a lie it's like a shoe box standing on end. Small, smelly and dirty,
The non Dutch staff either can't speak English properly and they appear wasted and in no great hurry to help. The rooms stank, my one especially as during my 7 night stay I had dead three mice/rats in the room and the cleaner makes up new beds and occasionally sweeps the floor THAT'S IT!
It really wasn't maintained at all, there was graffiti on the walls, lighter burns on the room and burns holes in the linen as smoking is allowed in the rooms. I stayed over New Year so didn't spend much time in the room but almost every night the fire alarm went off because of people smoking in the rooms.
The only good points, the rooms were warm and the showers were warm oh and it was very close to central Amsterdam.
This video shows you the 6 bed room and also the most horrible thing I've ever seen in a hostel room before, apologise for the swearing in the video. I have put this on here so people know what the are getting into,
This hostel is OK for one night, but no more. YUCK.

3D HD visit to Monnickendam - The Netherlands. Monnickendam (usually Monnikendam in English) is a city in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Waterland, and lies on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 8 km southeast of Purmerend. It received city rights in 1355 and suffered a lot of damage during the fires of 1500 and 1513. The town still harbours a lot of historical buildings together with a nice little harbor.

Trip to Amsterdam, Pt. 4: A Perfect Last Day
Hi Bloggy Friends,
On our last day in Amsterdam Alan and I hopped on a couple of bikes and rode out to a tiny seaside town called Durgerdam. Once there, we biked along the water and made a detour in quaint Ransdorp.
Back in Amsterdam, we hit the Jordaan for dinner and an evening stroll before turning in. We seriously heart Amsterdam. I'm not ready to leave!

Nederland Broek in waterland
Broek in Waterland is een dorp in de gemeente Waterland, ten noorden van Amsterdam. Tot 1991 was Broek in Waterland een zelfstandige gemeente met de kernen Uitdam en Zuiderwoude. Broek in Waterland telt circa 2300 inwoners. Het dorp heeft een beschermd dorpsgezicht.
Sommige van de houten huizen, vaak geschilderd in pasteltinten, en versierd met een deurkalf, hebben een ceremoniële voordeur, die werd gebruikt bij bruiloften of begrafenissen. Een van de huizen, altijd bestaande uit een houten constructie, vanwege de slappe ondergrond, is ontworpen door Hendrick de Keyser. Het dorp stond in de 18e eeuw bekend om zijn schoonheid, letterlijk en figuurlijk. Keizer Jozef II kwam in 1781 langs, maar werd niet binnengelaten omdat de boerin geen tijd had. Ook Napoleon bracht in 1811 een bezoek aan het dorp en genoot van het pagode-achtige prieel.
De plaats telt tientallen rijksmonumenten.
