Poas Volcano Lodge - Vara Blanca, Costa Rica
I was invited to stay two nights at the Poas Volcano Lodge in Vara Blanca, Costa Rica. Since I've been to Costa Rica 10 years ago, I couldn't wait to come back, it's been too long.
We arrived at the lodge and it was very cloudy and a bit misty, too wet to hike or get many shots outside. So we checked in, explored the lodge, and relaxed until dinner.
Dinner was incredible, the best meal of our trip! The food here is simply amazing, breakfast too. They have a dairy farm which supplies the milk, they also make their own jam and marmalade. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced, so delicious!
The lodge and guest rooms are also very nice, the beds are so comfortable and the linens are great. We didn't really want to get out of bed, but there's a lot of hiking trails to explore, and Autumn was wandering around and ran into a traffic jam of cattle on their way to get milked for the day. She loved walking with the cows and petting some of them.
The only thing we didn't like was that we were there for only two nights. This is a place we'll definitely come back to, such a comfortable and relaxing lodge, and the food itself is worth the trip back! Thanks a lot, we had the best time!

La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Costa Rica (Alajuela)
La Paz Waterfall Gardens & The Peace Lodge, located in Vara Blanca, Alajuela, Costa Rica, is an incredible place to visit (rainy season or not).
The waterfalls are impressive and well worth seeing if you are nearby in San José. The waterfalls are towards the end of this video, starting around the 6:20 marker.
In addition to the waterfalls, there is a great opportunity to see many varieties of wildlife. Most of the animals were rescued or confiscated by the government. In the video you will see toucans, jaguars, frogs, hummingbirds, and more.
Thank you Jennifer Solano for making the tour possible.
Filmed/photographed with a GoPro Her03+ Black Edition.

This video was recorded in Costa Rica At La Paz Waterfall Gardens. This is a beautiful refuge that has given a place to hundreds of wild animals that for some reason cannot be released into the wild. Moreover, this place has a chain of gorgeous waterfalls that transform this place into a magical setting.
If you enjoy the outdoors and want to have a close encounter with wild animals and beautiful landscapes, this is the place for you.
To record this video I only used a GoPro3+ and an iPhone 6s.

Panama Costa Rica Border Trip
- Panama Costa Rica Border Trip. From Boquete it took 1.5 hours to reach the border. Parking is a bit of an issue unless you go really early or late. We got there around Midday on a Saturday, so quite busy. The Panama exit was about 40 minutes wait. On the Costa Rica side we checked in and out in about 10 minutes. The return back into Panama was the most tedious part. Nearly 2 hours wait. Highly recommend you take water, something to eat, and some entertainment. You can buy drinks/snacks at the queue for the desk, but pricey.
Very good experience, staff very friendly on both sides...
Shopping
You can shop in the tax free zone between border posts.
Getting To Border
There is a bus service to/from David outside.
Bus from San Jose to Monteverde, Costa Rica Travel
Bus from the terminal in San Jose to the mountain town of Monteverde. Costa Rica public bus system is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of central america (no chickens here!). Tickets, seats, on time and comfortable. Of course, you pay for it but that's Costa Rica. I picked up a ticket the day of but the bus was sold out so consider getting to the station early or buying a ticket the night before. Bus terminals often switch in San Jose so check with your hotel or hostel - they should have the updated info.
