Hartwick College is a non-denominational, private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college in Oneonta, New York. The institution's origin is rooted in the founding of Hartwick Seminary in 1797 through the will of John Christopher Hartwick. In 1927, Hartwick Seminary moved to expand into a four-year college and was offered land by the city of Oneonta to move to Hartwick College's current location. The school has 1,200 undergraduate students from 30 states and 22 countries, 187 faculty members and the student-faculty ratio is 11-1.

It was used for the farm functions of the nearby estate of Walter Langdon and, later, Frederick Vanderbilt. Most of its buildings date to the turn of the 20th century, with one remaining from the 1830s. Many of its buildings and infrastructure remain intact. It is one of only two estate farm complexes on the east side of the Hudson that has not been razed and redeveloped. In 1993 it was recognized as a historic district and added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore contains some magnificent sand dunes lined up along the shores of Lake Michigan in the Leelanau Peninsula. I explore the Dune Climb, the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, a beach near Empire, and the Platte River. The area provides great hiking and camping opportunities, and is also one of my favorite areas in the state. I also tell the Legend of the Sleeping Bear in this video.
