Jackson Hole Airport is a United States public airport located seven miles north of Jackson, in Teton County, Wyoming. In 2015, it was the busiest airport in Wyoming by passenger traffic with 313,151 passengers. During peak seasons, Jackson Hole has nonstop airline service from 13 destinations throughout the United States including New York–JFK, Chicago–O'Hare, and Los Angeles International Airport. During shoulder seasons, airline service is limited to the hubs of Salt Lake City, Denver and Dallas/Fort Worth. Granite Hot Springs is a hot spring located in Sublette County, Wyoming, 30 miles southeast of Jackson. It is maintained by the United States Forest Service. Early settlers in the region dug a pool to collect the water. The Civilian Conservation Corps enhanced the pool in 1935, adding a campground, changing room, and deck. There is also a primitive pool located at Granite Falls, about 1/2 mile downstream, which was one of the locations used to shoot the 1992 film A River Runs Through It. During the summer, the pool can be accessed by car. In the winter, visitors must access it by skis, snowshoes, snowmobile or dogsled. In winter, the pool temperature may be up to 112 °F degrees. During peak snowmelt in spring, the temperature may drop into the 80s, and be in the mid-90s during the summer....

Teton Pass is a high mountain pass in the western United States, located at the southern end of the Teton Range of western Wyoming, between the towns of Wilson, Wyoming and Victor, Idaho. The pass provides access from the Jackson Hole valley to the Teton Valley of eastern Idaho, which includes the access route to Grand Targhee Resort through Driggs, Idaho. To the south of the pass, lies the Snake River Range. Wyoming Highway 22 crosses the pass and becomes Idaho State Highway 33 at the Idaho border, which continues northwest to Victor, then north to Driggs. The pinnacle of the pass is 8,431 feet above sea level and is approximately 11 miles west of Jackson. Last weekend we went down to Wyoming to find a bunch of things to do in Jackson Hole. There are lots of things to do in Wyoming and lots of Wyoming attractions but the little town of Jackson is a highlight.

There are a lot of options for lodging in Jackson. Out of all the hotels and motels, we stayed at the Wort Hotel in downtown Jackson, home to the Silver Dollar bar and the Cowboy Bar.

We hope this helps you decide what to do in Jackson or what to do in Wyoming in general. Have a great trip!

Jackson is a town in the Jackson Hole valley of Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 9,577 at the 2010 census, up from 8,647 in 2000. It is the county seat of Teton County and is its largest town.

Jackson is the principal town of the Jackson, WY-ID Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Teton County in Wyoming and Teton County in Idaho.

The town derives its name from Jackson Hole, the valley in which it is located.

Jackson Hole was originally populated by Native American tribes including the Shoshoni, Crow, Blackfeet, Bannock, and Gros Ventre. John Colter entered Jackson Hole during the winter of 1807/1808 during the return journey of the Lewis & Clark expedition. The area became a prime area for trappers and many famous mountain men traveled through the area in the early 1800s. These mountain men are responsible for many of the names in the valley including Bridger, Jedediah Smith, and Sublette. David Jackson gave his name to the valley after a winter spent on the shores of Jackson Lake.

As part of the Hayden Expedition of 1871 and 1872, William Henry Jackson took the first photographs of the Teton Mountains and Yellowstone. His photographs, along with the sketches by Tom Moran, were important evidence to convince Congress to protect Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park became the first National Park in 1872. Grand Teton National Park was created in 1920 and greatly expanded in 1950 through the generous efforts of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who purchased and then donated over 30,000 acres.

The Town of Jackson was named in 1894. Some of the early buildings remain and can be found throughout the area of the Town Square. The Town of Jackson elected the first all-woman city council in 1920.

The first ski rope tow was built at Teton Pass in 1937 and Snow King Resort was established in 1930. Teton County now boasts three excellent ski areas including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village, Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort located on the West slope of the Tetons, and Snow King Resort.

The Town of Jackson is the county seat of Teton County and the only incorporated municipality in the region. Less than 3% of land in Teton County is privately owned. 97% of the 2,697,000 acres in Teton County are federally or state owned/managed.

In 2009, the Town of Jackson was designated as a Preserve America Community. This designation recognizes that, as a community, we protect and celebrate our heritage, use historic assets for economic development and encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources.
