The Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada was an artillery foundry at La Cavada in Northern Spain. The foundry was established in 1622 by Jean Curtius with the support of Gaspar de Guzmán, Count-Duke of Olivares and became fully operational 15 years later. Between 1637 and 1835 the facility was responsible for the production of more than 26,000 cannons for ships and fortresses throughout the Spanish Empire.It closed after the defeat of the Spanish at the Battle of Trafalgar.

The Cueva de El Castillo, or Cave of the Castle, is an archaeological site within the complex of the Caves of Monte Castillo, in Puente Viesgo, Cantabria, Spain. The archaeological stratigraphy has been divided into around 19 layers, depending on the source they slightly deviate from each other, however the overall sequence is consistent, beginning in the Proto-Aurignacian, and ending in the Bronze Age.The El Castillo cave contains the oldest known cave painting: a large red stippled disk in the Panel de las Manos was dated to more than 40,000 years old using uranium-thorium dating in a 2012 study. This is consistent with the tradition of cave painting originating in the Proto-Aurignacian, with the first arrival of anatomically modern humans in Europe. A 2013 study of finger length ratios ...

MVUU LODGE & LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK, MALAWI

I spent two nights at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge in Liwonde National Park, Malawi, in May 2016. There are sooooo many elephants and hippos on the Shire River, so wildlife spotting on safari was pretty easy! This video showcases my experience of Mvuu Lodge - fantastic comfortable accommodation, and well worth a trip! :)
