Laredo is a town in the autonomous community of Cantabria. According to the 2008 census , the municipality has a population of 12,648 inhabitants. In addition to Laredo, the municipality includes the villages of La Arenosa, El Callejo, Las Cárcobas, Las Casillas, La Pesquera, Tarrueza and Villante. Except from the last two, the other villages had been physically integrated into Laredo. Located between the cities of Santander and Bilbao, Laredo is known in the region and nationally for La Salvé, its 5 km long beach and for the historic part of town dating back to Roman times.   • 1. El Capricho de Gaudi Comillas
    El Capricho is a villa in Comillas, Cantabria, Spain, designed by Antoni Gaudí. It was built in 1883-1885 for the summer use of a wealthy client, Máximo Díaz de Quijano.Gaudi, who designed only a small number of buildings outside Catalonia, was involved with other projects at Comillas. He was the assistant of Joan Martorell on another summer residence, the palacio de Sobrellano. El Capricho belongs to the architect's orientalist period. The tower has been compared to a minaret.
