Entry from: Carnac, France
Entry Title: Carnac Megalithes
Entry:
Today, we drove down to Carnac to see the standing stones, the monolithes, like Stonehenge. We had lunch in Carnac and took some pictures of the huge beaches they have. The megalithes, true to their name were huge rock formations that looked as if they had shot straight up out of the ground. They were mostly arranged in rows, but had no distinct pattern. No one knows who put them there and for what purpose but scientists believe it was for some kind of ritualistic purpose. They also deduce they have been standing there since 4500 BC. All in all, they were very strange and didn't really fit with the rest of the countryside.
Carnac has a lot of beach houses that have been closed up for the winter. It's a very quiet place right now, almost like a ghost town. In the summer though it's a great vacation spot. There are lots of big beaches.
