Places to see in ( Cassino - Italy )
Cassino is a comune in the province of Frosinone, Italy, at the southern end of the region of Lazio, the last City of the Latin Valley. Cassino is located at the foot of Monte Cairo near the confluence of the Gari and Liri rivers. The city is best known as the site of the Abbey of Montecassino and the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II, which resulted in huge Allied and German casualties as well as the near total destruction of the town itself. It is also home to the University of Cassino. Cassino has a population of 35,860 As of August 2015, making it the second largest town in the province.
Cassino's origins lie in the Volscan settlement of Casinum, sited atop the hill of Cassino near Monte Cairo, five kilometres to the north. Casinum passed under the control of the Samnites, but the Romans eventually gained control of Casinum, establishing a fortified colony there in 312 BC. During the Roman era the most venerated god was Apollo, whose temple rose up on Monte Cassino, where today stands the abbey. At least once during Punic Wars, Hannibal passed near Casinum. Casinum was also the site of a villa presumed to belong to Marcus Terentius Varro.
Cassino is located at the southern end of the region of Lazio and at the northern end of the historical region called Terra di Lavoro. The city centre is set in a valley at the foot of Monte Cassino and Monte Cairo. Cassino is distant 123 km (76 mi) from Rome, 101 km (63 mi) from Naples, 28 km (17 mi) from the coast (Gulf of Gaeta) and 24 km (15 mi) from the Parco nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise. The town is crossed by the rivers Gari and Rapido that join themselves in the area of the Varronian Thermal Baths; forward, in the frazione of Sant'Angelo in Theodice, the Gari joins the Liri, becoming Garigliano, the river that marks the border between the regions Lazio and Campania.

Places to see in ( Empoli - Italy )
Today we’re going to Empoli with a person who lives there: his name is Fausto and he's a friend of Visit Tuscany. He gave us some tips to enjoy a full day in Empoli. Start the day with an energy boost: have a bombolone&cappuccino in an historic pastry shop in the city centre (from the station you can reach it on foot in 10 minutes). Then visit the birthplace of Jacopo Carrucci (the famous painter Pontormo) in Pontorme. You just have to walk 15 or 20 minutes from the city centre.
Visit also the museum of the Collegiate Church of St. Andrew (Collegiata di Sant’Andrea) which is the cathedral of Empoli. After visiting the museum in Piazza dei Leoni have a look at the colonnade and the first floor of the Ghibelline Palace. There, in September 1260, there was a congress and Farinata degli Uberti saved Florence from destruction by the Ghibellines of Siena, Arezzo and Empoli (that period is called Dieta di Empoli). If you get inside the Palace you'll see that is today very different compared to 1260. Anyway, besides the legendary ghosts of the Ghibellines, the building now houses the museum of palaeontology.
Stay in the city centre and have an healthy lunch. Then, a coffee at the counter of the bar that is the meeting point of many people of Empoli. Now it’s time to discover the history of Empoli with a visit to the new MUVE, the Museum of Glass, dedicated to the industry that has made Empoli famous all around the world. The centre of Empoli is full of culture and history, starting from Piazza della Vittoria, where you can admire the statue of Victory and the house-museum of Ferruccio Busoni.
Stay in Piazza della Vittoria and have a snack with an ice cream in the gelateria. Now you can explore the history of partisans in Empoli with a visit to the Modern Art and the Resistance Gallery (Galleria d’arte moderna e della resistenza). If the weather is good, take a walk of about 15 minutes and reach the big park of Serravalle, where you can relax and read a book. If you love football you will notice that along the way you will pass the Stadio Carlo Castellani, where Empoli Football team plays. In Empoli, the aperitivo is a must, so go back to Piazza della Vittoria! Just be careful not to fill up too much beforedinnertime.

Places to see in ( Reggio Calabria - Italy ) Arena dello Stretto
The Arena of the Strait (or Anfiteatro Anassilaos) is a theater of modern construction, in imitation of the ancient Greek theaters, located on the Falcomatà seafront in Reggio Calabria , where the Porto Salvo Pier stood before the 1908 earthquake .
The structure, reflecting the tradition of ancient theater, offers a panoramic view, in this case of the Strait of Messina . In addition to the semicircular staircase, the theater has two wide ramps on the sides that allow disabled people to reach the lower area of the arena .
The theater is often home to the most important events in the city, such as musical, theatrical and film (in particular Reggio Calabria Film Fest ), and seasonal festivals (Summer Solstice of the Academy of Fine Arts ).
Il Cippo Marmoreo was inaugurated in May 1932 . The bronze statue in the center (by the Mexican sculptor Bonfiglio) depicts Athena Promachos , the goddess Athena fighter, who stands in defense of the city of Reggio.
At the end of the renovation and modernization of the waterfront in 2001 the monument with the statue of Athena was placed on the pontoon in the center of the theater but, originally the statue that protects the city was facing the sea, the then mayor Italo Falcomatà wanted the statue to be turned towards the city itself.
