Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Castillo de Vimianzo
The Castle of Vimianzo , also known as Torres de Martelo , is located at the entrance of the town of Vimianzo , in the town hall of the same name, province of La Coruña . At present it hosts a permanent exhibition of popular crafts.
Castillo de Vimianzo is in very good condition. It conserves parts of century XIII , although the majority belong to the centuries XIV and XV. The building has irregular polygonal floor plan adapting to the terrain. It consists of three rectangular defensive towers around a courtyard of weapons in addition to the tribute tower , with its cantilevered battlements. The diamond-studded battlements that once surrounded the entire castle are only preserved in the Tower of Homage and in the walk of one of the walls.
Its perimeter is surrounded in its entirety by a deep moat. It also preserves the way of round and in the doorway of entrance to the patio you can see the shield with the head of wolf of Moscoso.
The closeness of the fortress to the coast allowed him to control the commercial routes of the North Sea , the sardine and salt business, and rescue the booty of ships that were wrecked on these coasts.

VIGO is a municipality of Spain in the province of Pontevedra, autonomous community of Galicia. It is 26 km from Pontevedra, 71 km from Santiago de Compostela, and just over 20 km from Valença, the nearest Portuguese town. Vigo extends along the south bank of Vigo estuary, at the foothills of Mount Castro. The Vigo estuary is the greatest treasure of the city: its origin, its engine, its past and its future. “Puerta del Sol” is the km 0 of Vigo: here come together the Historical Center of Vigo and the “Ensanche”. At “Puerta del Sol” we find one of the city's symbols: the sculpture of Francisco Leiro, “El Sireno” (00:00), a symbol of the union of the man and the sea. “Ensanche” (0:10) is the manor Vigo, where modern buildings of the nineteenth century were built and, even today, are at the center of Vigo. It is a cultural and commercial area with a wide range of shops, art galleries, museums, shows. The Historic Center is the old town of Vigo. Here you find the Constitution Square (1:43) the focus of the historical center of Vigo, in which in other times was located the old city hall; the Church of Santa Maria (2:08) known as La Colegiata built between 1816 and 1836, replacing the previous Gothic church; the “Praza da Pedra” (2:55) and the “Mercado da Pedra” (3:04). The visit to the oysters Street is an essential culinary experience in Vigo. The “Pescadería” Street (3:06) is one of the points of touristic interest in Vigo. The tradition is simple: you buy the oysters and you eat them, seasoned with lemon, and accompanied by a good Albariño wine. The sporty Port of Vigo (3:19) is located on the southern edge of Ria de Vigo. One of the most emblematic sculptures located here is El Nadador (3:41), by the sculptor Francisco Leiro, which aims to show the swimmers effort. Also at this location you find the Shopping Centre A Laxe (3:45).

Camino de Invierno (Ponferrada - Santiago)| CaminoWays.com
Traditionally the Camino de Invierno (Winter Way) was the route taken by pilgrims to Santiago in the Winter time to avoid the snowy months in the mountains of O Cebreiro, on the Camino Frances. Pilgrims would head south of Ponferrada and follow the meandering River Sil into Galicia. This is a truly spectacular Camino route, full of history and breathtaking landscapes; perfect for those looking for a challenge and an off-the-beaten track Camino experience. Despite its name, this off the beaten track route is best discovered in Spring, when green lush vines create wonderful vistas or in Autumn to make the most of the magical red and ochre colours of the forests and vineyards.
The Camino de Invierno takes pilgrims to the unique landscapes of Las Médulas; a UNESCO-listed site shaped by gold-mining in Roman times; and once in Galicia, pilgrims walk in the heart of the superb Ribeira Sacra, the valley of the Sil River. This relatively undiscovered region is famous for its impressive river canyons, terraced vineyards and rich Romanesque heritage.
The route has been marked with the Camino arrows and shells by the local Camino association. Once in Santiago de Compostela, you should request your Compostela pilgrim certificate to complete this unforgettable trip.
