The Mauthausen–Gusen concentration camp complex consisted of the Mauthausen concentration camp on a hill above the market town of Mauthausen plus a group of nearly 100 further subcamps located throughout Austria and southern Germany. Venus of Willendorf, Wachau - Austria HD Travel Channel

Willendorf is 25 km upstream of Krems on the left bank of the Danube. The small village is the place where the Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic statuette, was found. It was created 27,000 years ago, and counts together with Venus of Galgenberg to the world's oldest human sculptures. It was created at a time when the area still resembled a tundra and the ice-age glaciers of the southern Alps reached the Danube. At that time Mammoth, wool rhinoceros, reindeer and other great mammals populated the area.
The original can be seen in the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum) in Vienna. Beside a replica of the sculpture, the small museum in Willendorf shows a number of fossil bones and tools from that time.

Willendorf liegt 25 km flussaufwärts von Krems am linken Donauufer. Der kleine Ort ist Fundort der Venus von Willendorf, einer altsteinzeitlichen Vollplastik.
Sie entstand vor 27.000 Jahren und zählt zusammen mit der Venus vom Galgenberg zu den ältesten menschlichen Skulpturen weltweit. Geschaffen wurde sie zu einer Zeit, als das Gebiet noch einer Tundra glich und die eiszeitlichen Gletscher von den südlich gelegenen Alpen bis an die Donau reichten. Mammut, Wollnashorn, Rentier und andere Großsäuger belebten die Gegend.
Das Original ist im Kunsthistorischen Museum in Wien zu sehen. Das kleine Museum in Willendorf zeigt außerdem eine Reihe von Knochenfossilien und Werkzeuge jener Zeit.

Castle ruins, terraced vineyards, and old churches line the river as it passes through small towns like Dürnstein and Spitz.
